Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Low cost country hiring spree, US layoffs incoming

Just got off the phone with my disgruntled LL4 buddy. He said thousands have been hired in the LCCs since beginning of November. Once it became obvious the new UAW contract was going to be extremely costly, the LCCs plan got kicked into high gear.

He says he expects a big layoff in the US by mid-February. He said upper-management wants it done as early as possible in 2024.

Good luck to us all.

yawn dunno what it is with you lot and your 'LL4 buddies', clearly they're not in the know.
Find an LL6+ that you're friendly with. Ask him/her to show you the workforce dashboard (lifeatford->people leader services->workforce dashboard). Change the primary display to 'country'. make a note of the USA/India/Mexico numbers. Then change the date from the current month to ... pretty much any month in the past.
Have numbers in India and Mexico gone up? Yes, but only to the tune of 5-600, and certainly not thousands. They should also look at the US Actuals, which have increased too.

If you're going to post doom and gloom, sure, but at least have the decency to back it up with some actual numbers/proof/anything but 'funny sounding man taking mah job'

My team in Model e was going to put out an ad for hire. My LL6 got told to put the position on hold for 6-12 weeks and when asked why they said you will know in the coming weeks. This exact same situation happened on my team right before previous layoffs as well.

I'm not sure about Mexico and Brazil, but in India most employees are contract employees. It's very easy to hire thousands in a few weeks. So nice try in trying to discredit the OP, but it very likely between all three locations "thousands", ie over 2000, have been added since early November.

Get your head out of the sand. Your company hates you and wants to replace your with a lower cost worker in a 3rd world country.

Endgame!

LCC to India and Mexico has been happening for years, both a Ford and Ford Credit. Thousands doesn't really make sense since you can only hire and onboard a limited # of people at a time. The awful part is current employees normally train the LCC who take over their jobs. The conventional thinking is they can do almost anything that doesn't involve talking to a customer or dealer; of course at a cheaper cost. Notice I didn't say better because they can't do it better than USA or Canadian team members. The amount of defects and issues will continue to overwhelm the organization and what we thought was a cost save will generate so many hidden factories of costs issues, it will take years to undue this mess. Signed, a sad and heartbroken retiree.

We know you're lying when you wrote: "thousands have been hired in the LCCs since beginning of November". It is not physicals possible to hire "thousands". Anyone who is involved in the hiring process will tell you the same.

Go pound sand.

So those of you who are training India, Mexico and other LLC’s, get ready to lose your jobs as well as those who are not training them. Even customer service is not safe for over 50 with 20 years or more and among other reasons.

Either way if you are WFH you are on the block. Even if you are an LL6. Have some FU money...seriously.

Yes, my area just hired a bunch of new people. There's a lot of us approaching 30 years. The last time the Company did this in 1995, they had mass layoffs for those 30+ years. Looks like it's coming.

Some parts of Mexico, like San Luis Potosi, have learned that you don't do a deal with the devil.

Is tomorrow going to be the start of the 2024 layoffs at Ford?

I haven't logged in for a while, should I be concerned if I cannot access my work computer tomorrow?
