Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Leadership call πŸ“ž summary

From what I gathered Cisco may actually skip an LR this cycle but an LR maybe happen last half of FY26 or early FY27.

ELT made a comment where instead of having a headcount for 4 employees why not have 2 employees and leverage AI for the other 2 employees. Jeetu also touched on topic where Cisco has to leverage AI more efficiently when it comes to writing code. Microsoft touts AI writes 70% of its code and Cisco is lucky to be at 30%.

That's pretty much it

... Wait, that's not what we meant...

Toosh

Cisco has turned missing tech transitions into an Olympic sport. They fumbled the cloud, got lapped in software-defined networking, watched security innovation pass them by, and now they’re treating AI like it’s just another buzzword to slap on a PowerPoint. Their technical debt is so bloated, it should have its own AS number. At this point, they’re less a tech company and more a museum exhibit on what happens when you cling to legacy while the future moves on without you.

cisco strategy is to throw money at cisco live and other useless org conferences with 0 innovation and 0 change. they send code and hardware to a country in asia for cheap labor making sure it stays horrible and becomes worse. enjoy the end of cisco people

G2 talking about AI is like a sesame street episode

@hw yeah I laugh anytime Cisco and AI are mentioned together. Talk about the ultimate bandwagon. I’ve watch partners stop account managers mid sentence when mentioning AI and ask what exactly Cisco does with AI and each time the account managers just say we’ll forward over some documentation

It was brutally clear that the ELT has absolutely no idea what β€œAI” is, does, or can do.

Danger is that the none-technical id--ts on the ELT probably really believe that AI can write all the Cisco code and so they can LR half of development people. A little knowledge is very dangerous and ELT are at the summit of β€œMount Stupid” on the enlightenment curve.

oh for cryin out loud, just shut the company and let AI run the mess. Skynet will take care of the inefficiences and delete with extreme prejudice. This is a real person.

Cisco does not write code. Cisco manages a tangled mess of technical debt in the form of layers upon layers of poorly written, poorly documented garbage.
