Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

Any News on Nailsea layoffs

People in sourcing/Proj management cut.

Some in engineering being sent to Vietnam.

Does anyone know what’s up in Nailsea?

Any Seasoned Engineers that BH had left the company a few years back, & the only ones left are Inexperienced Folk looking to get experience so they can split the moment they become useful to somebody else.
For these people, a temporary move to Vietnam, to transfer the little knowledge base they have, may be a bonus on their CVs.
BH hold people with experience with great contempt, so the only way to get by is to treat them in the same way as they treat you.
This is probably because they look upon Experienced Engineers as a threat to their egos rather than an asset that can be used to further the company’s products & interests, such is their short sightedness.
There’s no shame in grabbing the last of the Life Boats & making a getaway rather than sticking with Incompetent Captain of a sinking ship – there’s life outside of Baker Hughes, so enjoy.

It’s the usual game of musical chairs and revolving doors, place lost its shine along time ago even though they rolled it in some glitter. Usual problems, no sustained NPI funding, firefighting and EBs+ only interested in their bonus. Some good people still here, but few and far between and everyone has been crushed.

I think this post is a bit late to the party because there’s been a steady trickle of work migrating to Vietnam and other countries, from Nailsea, for a while now.
The Smart Party took the Queen’s Shilling long ago once the coffee was smelt, & only the new Grad’s & Hangers On seem to be left.
Still, if it saves a few quid on the bottom line and secures Management Bonuses, I guess it can’t be bad, even if the Customers don’t dig what they are doing, aren’t entirely happy with the quality of the work, & are openly looking for new suppliers because they are sick of BH & their self entitled attitudes.
Still, it’s good to see that BH holds them in as much contempt as they do their Employees.
Tạm biệt Su-kers.

I hope GD in NPI will be chopped off. Scott was already terminated and he was way better than GD who just disappeared fro every radar after he went to NPI. He is by far the worst individual humanly and professionally that I ever came across.

Who in his right mind would want to go to Vietnam and not as an expat with some reassurance the Company will pay for his/her way back? What's in it for people to relocate to another continent not as an expat to train the local team? You will be on the chopping block as soon as the local team has leaned enough from you (as you will be making x times the local wage) and will end up having to pay for your own way back

I don’t know what’s happening in Nailsea but there is some higher management going as further streamlining is in order.
