15 Dollars an hour

How would Macy's handle a $15 an hour? They think $10 is a lot.

The company is testing higher prices in higher wage markets. That $5 Karen Scott sweater on sale in Idaho will be $10 in Herald Square, NYC

22 years and I got $11.10 an hr because I changed from full to on call. Never asked for a raise. I made more working in The 1970s and 1980s then I did at Macy’s..I did at that time like the job and the people, but now I could care less.. macys can’t afford 15 an hour .
First of all that’s a big joke NEVER will they pay workers that. They would rather claim chapter 11 or sell out to Amazon then pay their workers

The $15 question! How do most retailers handle this question? Well, Macy's only requires addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division on many of their executive postings. So, my guess would be:
((Your rate)/$15)*(Your current hrs)=(Your new hours) if you are paid less than $15 now. Else, if you make more than $15, your new rate will be the same (if you are lucky and are not laid off, then new rate =0.00) or $15.

Just think of what all these companies have to do in order to pay the $15 minimum wages if approved. All the expenses the company pays for go up from the production of the merchandise to how it gets to the stores and everything to run the stores. Some companies won’t be able to hire new staff because of that additional payroll. Some small companies will have to close because they can’t afford the $15. They won’t be able to hire extra staff at holiday all this will effect unemployment because if the company is paying $15 a hour they will only hire the best staff they can find that can do multiple jobs. So they don’t have to hire a lot of staff. They need to get the most out of every employee they can. I don’t know the best solution but just wanted everyone to think what $15 a hour really means it’s not that easy.

Cut support in half and instead of 1 salesperson in each floor have 1 for all floors.

"mass layoffs, store closures, increased prices, and high taxes", eh? Hate to burst your delusional bubble here, but we got all this RIGHT NOW.

$15 minimum wage = mass layoffs, store closures, increased prices, and high taxes. Anyone who votes for $15 min wage is a complete id–t.

@hfy+18VuaGOM Don't hold your breath. In Massachusetts minimum wage was raised, has been increasing incrementally for about 3 years, and will be $15 in January 2023. Currently it is $13.50. Macy's has given no equal increases for anyone making more than minimum. They only increase the people under minimum. So new people with no experience make just as much as some people with decades of experience.

If min wage goes to $15 then I want an equal raise in my paycheck too. I've worked too long and hard to get where I am now to have completely inexperienced people make almost as much as I make now.
