Here is what we have learned.

  1. WFH is here to stay because Charlie Munger said so. However most posters on this site never heard of Charlie Munger before he said this. Now he is a prophet. Next week when he says something they disagree with, they will conveniently ignore it.
  2. The company was close to filing bankruptcy in 2020. Poster knows it’s true because he heard it was true, probably from another poster.
  3. Nothing makes these posters more angry than to tell them that there is not enough evidence suggesting WFH is permanent.
  4. If you don’t believe the WFH dogma, you are not only wrong, but you are somehow evil.
  5. Permanent WFH doubters are probably boomers or managers or both.

Right, a 30% pay cut for what, 3 months. That’s a whole 7.5% per year. You didn’t lose your job with no severance. Get over yourself, cupcake.

Not to mention with the 30% pay cuts all the oxy employees took, I heard we were an arm hair away from bankruptcy. So shut your mouth and retire boomer.

Dude charlie munger said WFH is here to stay. You know, the right hand man of the guy oxy sold our soul to to acquire APC. Shut your boomer mouth and go spend time with your wife.

I think the people here saying that WFH is here to stay and that the world has changed are the same people who said Oxy was DEFINITELY going to file for bankruptcy 18 months ago. Stop making predictions based on your feelings.

@hca, certainly we can hi-grade. We can start with laying you off.

Maybe Oxy can pick up some more people from the majors. Then Oxy can have the much needed layoff to hi-grade the workforce in the process.

Oxy will keep more talent than the average oil company (that will lose people left and right) bc of the return to office. At least we have hybrid, but I still don’t see why full time wfh isnt allowed. If other industries now allow wfh and hybrid, oil and gas needs to get on board.

Just wait until the company combines the woodlands and greenway offices. Then you all will have something to complain about.

"Long term leases going unused is not part of the game plan."

I mean, we bought a whole campus, didn't use it, and resold it so anything is possible. Plus we can always sublease out the space we have...this would derive value from it even if our employees were not the ones utilizing the space.

The future is basically dead at OXY except for BWP. Let's hope that remains. OXY wants in person collaboration even though you don't think it's needed. Long term leases going unused is not part of the game plan.

OK, let's have a real debate about the future of WFH. We will explore all of the socio-economic angles, both pro and con. Let's be fair and unbiased. Everyone's opinions are welcome as long as they are based on facts. The only rule is that opinions from boomers, retirees, and managers are not allowed (since we know they are not legit). After all, we are only interested in truth. Can I get an amen?

@vxm ok, zoomer. Look forward to your generations entitled tantrum when you get back to the office. That pacifier is gonna fly right across the room.

A lot of salty trolls and ex employees as far as I can see. Who cares their opinion when real shot callers like Charlie munger determine the market. Wfh and hybrid are here to stay!

If oxy doesn’t listen to the people that they desperately beg for money (Charlie munger) than they will go out of business. Plain and simple. Pi-s off ex oxy trolls and middle level managers ;-)

A lot of ex employees and trolls upset they aren’t getting that BWP pay. Seethe, we love to see it.

Oh I wish I had a dollar for every expert who announced this or that was “dead”. Might be or not. It’s too early to know. There are a lot of people who believe that if they keep saying it enough, it will have to happen, and get really upset if anyone dare disagrees, as if disagreeing might keep it from happening.

Oxy has never followed along with the industry so expect to have the old 9/80 schedule back within a year from now. Then they can pay top dollar for those who are real professionals and the rest of you can go F-c off.

@lfy, please go somewhere else and get yourself some of that top dollar pay.

You can’t disregard what this guy is saying. The world has changed. Not to mention oxy went to his boss warren in 2019 and sold our soul to do the anadarko deal. Any company requiring 4 days in the office will be out of business unless they pay top dollar in a few years (oxy does not pay even close to top dollar to the average employee).
