None of it makes any sense to me. People who should be here are gone, people who should be gone are still here. What has been the point of all this? I’m so sorry for all of us who have been going through so much stress, anxiety, anticipation, worry and disappointment for months now. Just always remember - it’s not you, it’s most definitely just them.

I'm glad that I'm gone. In fact, I had the honor of being the first guy out the door. They got what they wanted, which was one fewer 'White boy', and I got what I wanted- freedom from a hostile, toxic work environment. My overall health has improved, as well.
I keep checking my old dept roster to who's still hanging on. Yep, the same dinosaurs and hacks are still in charge, while some 80% are gone and not replaced. Shame.
I know that if your not in NY or LA most of the company could care less but the baby networks were hit just as hard. There were just as many bad decisions made for them like keeping the teams that had all of their shows canceled then laying off all the producers of the shows that were still on air and putting the canceled show producers in charge of them, that sounds like a recipe for success
Who is this saying a post must be from an angry CBS employee? ALL these posts are by angry & bitter Paramount & CBS employees... ALL these posts are about the toxic workplace... CBS especially has had 2 now infamous back-to-back outside investigations - second to none in the history of TV. Telling someone they must be an angry CBS employee is just bizarre. Weird
Bob Bakish sold every CBS & Paramount property but the kitchen sink along with 98% of the layoff from the merger till now. That's because he doesn't know how to make money. Anybody can sell off property. If Bakish was good at what he did - we'd still have our iconic properties. 1515 Broadway isn't even owned - it's always been leased.
Ask Brian Applegate of CBS Saturday Morning why none of his many other family members at CBS ever get laid off. The nepotism at the company is also toxic. Speaking of who you know... Jeez, so many people get hired at CBS in the first place only because family got them hired - then to throw salt in wounds - none of these family members ever get laid off.
Oh the company will be no longer toxic when the 3 Amigos go? So it wasn't toxic when Bakish ran it? CBS wasn't toxic when Peter Dunn ran it, wasn't toxic when Moonves ran CBS? Wasn't toxic under Sumner redstone ? Isn't toxic under Shari Redstone? It's the 3 Amigos that make it toxic - okay charlie. It's the culture that has and will always be. Has nothing to do with who is running the company.. Ellison not gonna change a thing
Layoffs happen we move on. 3 amigos still provide zero direction and are absolutely useless. Looking forward to the merger where we can focus on the way forward. The company will be toxic until the three anmigos are gone.
Since when in history do who is laid off made sense. If layoffs made sense to you, they wouldn't make sense to 50% of other employees. Layoffs by the thousands are made in other industries like finance or food service , airlines est. Bean counters who have no idea who you are could be laying you off. At Paramount Global they could be laying off white males to increase the overall minority count by default. Others could be laid off in retaliation for complaining or not kissing up or sleeping with the boss. Popular now may be your yapping out your politics where they can be heard at work. I'm sure various layoffs are made at different levels of managers. If your in a small group - it's probably your direct boss. * Also note: the people that call you in to get laid off typically get laid off themselves afterwards. Usually the goons get the honor of calling people into the office or at home.
This place is so toxic.
To my fellow colleague, sadly it’s probably not about what the crew knows or their competency but who they know that keeps them around. please hang in there.
As comedian George carlin said- it's a club & you ain't in it.
You gotta play the game is true
If you're in a union - go-getters, people that do good work ( define good work among your peers & explain how a boss would know the difference between workers in a large group), people that have pride in their work & people that share experience with other workers, efficient people etc. are all prime targets for layoffs. Never raise the bar if you want to keep your job at union jobs. There are also strange bedfellows that you don't know about that explains why people don't get laid off. If you smoke, drink , do dr-gs , womanize, steal from the company/ pad your timesheet etc. - your job is pretty much safe. * From experience
You can only point the finger for so long.
Post ID: @gxc+1vGUHji9 I understand your point to a degree. However, keep in mind that you are only as good as the people that work for you. Therefore, this “insurance policy” you speak of is illogical and flawed. Either way, things at this company will change very soon and I hope that justice is served. Have a nice day.
Life isn't fair. Um Paramount Global - especially CBS, you should know this by now:
Only get rid of the people that complain. Only get rid of the people that are a threat to you only get rid of the people that DON'T PLAY THE GAME. * Don't you realize the inefficient , troubled, bad employees are insurance to their bosses & other workers? Because they can ALWAYS be fired at ANY time. So makes sense to get rid of good workers that are a threat or complain and then when the time comes when your job is in jeopardy - you point the finger at the sc--wups. Same with promotions - hire the ones that stink because it's less likely they will replace you. Plus lousy bosses can always threaten to fire the sc--wups to keep them loyal.
Thank you for posting this. I struggle with this every day. I am glad I am not the only one who feels this way. My department head and her “crew” are those who should be gone but for some reason they are all still here. They are beyond incompetent yet they consistently fly below the radar. I am trying to be optimistic though…I think the new year will bring substantial change. Karma.
