Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Multiple directors at Arity moving on to new roles

Director of product and director of engineering abandoning ship within a day of each other..

After how they handled the reorg last year and the terrible culture they've cultivated here, they should have been fired. They have left every team under staffed and created so many silos, getting work done has been ground to a halt.

Pandered to the agents? All the agents wanted was a competitive auto price! The only group that Wilson pandered to was the share holders! Tricia Griffith has the shareholders at bay. Giving her the ability grow Progressive. The agents would welcome a profitable online product if it produced a competitve auto product. However, the agent business was too busy funding the highly unprofitable Esurance. Morover, the agents spent a great deal of their revenue selling Allstate's garbage life policies.

All I know is that is has been a steady flow of turnover at Arity in engineering, UX, and product.

I'm also not convinced they know why or how to fix, it as they continue to insist on this siloed approach...

We're talking critical teams with only one person per role with no backup, with zero cross training, zero knowledge sharing, etc. If those people leave so does the domain knowledge of the products those individuals are working on.

Surely that must be more expensive than having slightly larger teams with proper backups. But that would likely require increasing pay to align with the industry.

It was the VP of engineering as the director left earlier this year. Mass exodus in the product group has been happening all year and last week saw the departure of 2 product managers and the director. No backfilling going on and the leadership team seems disengaged and ignoring what’s going on there.

Not sure on the value added by a money-losing Arity operation anyway. Better to fully leverage the leaders like Cambridge Telematics/True Motion that now serve 21 of the top 25 carriers in America. Our institutional arrogance (maybe that is TW's arrogance) continues to be a barrier. Under TW, he allowed the emergence of Geico and Progressive as he pandered to the agents for far too long and/or screwed up all aspects of his Geico ki---r company aka Esurance. Not to mention the failure of his Life/Annuity aspirations. Loser.
