Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Came back from vacation and dreading to be back at this sh1t show of a company

Constantly just worried about losing my job here, there is no future or growth here left. Going to keep doing just enough to hopefully last 6 more months and then figure my stuff out / interview good enough to get something else.

The titanic is sinking; tons of h1bs/ and hiring in Banglore with mediocre to below average folks who just have attitude and don't do any actual work

I really pray and hope I am not stuck here 6 months from now

Joining this company was the biggest setback in my career

@ccx+1we93adj "Most 35+ want a package and don't plan on leaving unless they get one"

Agreed and why would they leave? Few family repsonsibilites as kids are moved out and parents may no longer be around, a good salary & health care, bills paid, plenty of free time (5 weeks vacation & 3 days in office), doing work they're proficient at, not stressed about climbing the ladder or getting fired ... other than being old, I wish I were one of them ;-)

@OP+1we93adj If you have pension, you are going to be cut. If you read the funding document, which you can request, the amount of active pension in April 2024 was 10,215. You will see, if you request that document in 2025, that number will be greatly reduced. Ford is actively cutting pension people so you don't hit 20 years (for 9 months of severance) or don't hit 10 years at 55, for retirement but they are doing it in small batches so the press doesn't hear about it. If you have pension, you should plan on leaving on your own, not waiting for being cut.

@1sey I had a mexican boss and he was no different than the bad stereotype old guy waiting to get to 30 years. He was lazy, only showed up to take applause for a successful project and was only good for approving IM1NE sheets.

We couldnt stand the guy because he was a fraud in first degree, so when work goes from Detroit to south of the border, you expect no change in final product.

Yep, it's a Mexican standoff, with most jobs going to Mexico.

@grw+1we93adj your right on that. Most 35+ want a package and don't plan on leaving unless they get one. Ford is under the delusion they'll leave without one, so they just continue to gut others.

@cmd+1we93adj "why Ford doesn't broom the 35ys + rather than going after others. There are tons of them"

The ones I know would welcome the broom.

25yrs. Of this. Years ago I turned down jobs at other companies because I foolishly put a dollar value on my pension. Here I sit now just watching the calendar, hoping I can punch the ticket while living this day to day nightmare. Don't know why these people stay after they reach their anniversaries. Don't know why Ford doesn't broom the 35ys + rather than going after others. There are tons of them.
