Thread regarding ViacomCBS layoffs

I'm preparing a way out

Even if I’m not laid off, I’m not staying. I don’t give a damn what they claim about this being a one time thing. I don’t trust them. Management has burned us too many times, so now I always expect the worst. The moment I find something better, I’m out of here.

@ev what role or job type of you don't mind me asking.

I've seen product people and designers struggling but engineering has been pretty active

@gd That’s company policy anyway. If the company provided you with equipment or ergonomic products, those items are considered company property. As such, you're legally required to return them when your employment ends. They are not yours to keep.

@g7 pays all well for now. Go check the FAQs in Murray. Says pto and salary/bonus won’t change in 2025 but may in 2026

If you leave pls leave your mouse, keyboard and any useful office supplies behind. After all this spending on content there wont be a budget for everyday things like that unless you are a coder.

Leave now. Let those who want to stay stay. The company actually pays well and offers really good benefits.

As a person who was laid off who loved their job, this is such a gross post. You have a job. If you want to leave, leave. Stop being a victim and just do it.

Hah it’s not a jail. Based off headline I thought you were tying a bunch of sheets together to sneak out a window.

If you can, please hold on. There are so many qualified unemployed people who are having a hard time finding work. If you are financially well off, then go for it. Or if the environment is too toxic then yes leave.

I agree, I highly doubt it's a 'one-time' thing. Once they bring in their leadership, they will assess the layers beneath, they may re-evaluate their structure and what is working and not working. Believe it will be one large sweep this year but they will likely have additional rounds next year, just like any business.
