When you have to lay someone off, the least you can do is be kind about it and do it as quickly and as painlessly as possible. Don't make all of us wait around for our fate to be decided. That's unnecessarily cruel.

It is designed to force attrition. Considering the fact that less than 400 full time employees are gone between August and mid-September and half of those were probably layoffs, I’d say that their plan has failed spectacularly.
@gcc+1oAVXBPl yessssss!!!!
The vibe at work since layoff announcement has been awful. I feel that with RTO people were generally annoyed or angry but everyone was still business as usual.
But with layoffs... People are on edge. Those who are usually happy go lucky on calls are now stressed and visibly, audibly short tempered. Trying to get updates and deliverables from other teams is like pulling teeth.
@1oko+1oAVXBPl management is probably more worried about their own jobs because one of the main goals of the layoff is to flatten hierarchy.
@gcc+1oAVXBPl same here. Manager is distant, vague and absent. Schwab is a strange place.
I’m starting to worry. My boss has been acting more distant and apathetic toward legitimate issues I bring up. Or maybe he’s worried about himself.. the vibe has definitely changed.
When I was layed off, my manager walked me out past our entire team. They threw things at me, snickered, laughed, and sp-t on me. It was humiliating. However, I learned a valuable lesson….. I ummmm….. ok can’t remember the lesson. I can see why they chose me to be layed off. Never mind.
Don't be cruel and definitely don't embarrass the people being laid off or fired.
I have seen a manager try to humiliate someone and it backfired. Not only in causing many higher up's to lose their jobs but in expensive legal fees.
I don’t find it cruel at all. I’m either going to be layed off or not. Nothing I can do about it. The longer they wait, the more paychecks I get. Possibly more severance as I bump into fractional tenure thresholds for the year. If I’m not layed off, that is fine too. Back to business. Either way, waiting and is a gift of time, and let’s us get our affairs in order.
Your fate has been decided. They are not ready to do it yet. Enjoy the extra month of employment.
