Cisco never wanted Americans to move to India to work.
It wasn't a nudge nudge wink wink kind of thing, it was called out in all hands many times and the local managers joined in the fun by bring it up in local meetings. Thank you for playing.
The whole point of globalization was to outsource jobs to cheaper countries and use native populations.
Once the transatlantic links were good enough to offshore at scale everyone was trying to hire there which means high demand with low supply. Increasing the supply drives prices down. It wasn't too long after that when Cisco decoupled many US sites from the SJ pay scales so some of those "cheaper countries" include US states outside of California.

I'm surprised more North American staff don't comprehend this.
As I've pointed out many times over many years here, Cisco was trying to get Americans to move to India more than two decades ago because they couldn't hire enough people there. If a full transition were doable they would have done it a long time ago. Cisco America trained Cisco India so they destroy talent every bit as quickly and efficiently.

Cisco is ramping up hiring in Bangalore. Employees who only have awareness of what is happening in North America might be inclined to believe that Cisco is running a hiring freeze. No, the hiring is just happening somewhere else.
Jeetu has absolutely bought in to AI hype. Its all he talks about anymore. I bet he has proposed rebuilding engineering orgs in Bangalore with AI assist tools used to bridge the gap in institutional knowledge. It would not surprise me to see orgs like SBG be fully relocated to Bangalore within three years. All engineering, all PM, all QA. When folks get stuck looking at code that was written years earlier in North America, the recommended strategy will be to use AI to try to untangle it.
Even if the AI stuff ends up being fluff, I predict the Bangalore move will happen anyway. I'm surprised more North American staff don't comprehend this.
