Our LL6 just informed our team that everyone under Kumar is being mandated to return to office 3 days a week, with a soft roll out starting next week, and full implementation by March 1st.

Utterly ridiculous. Hotelling is a disaster, parking lot is a cluster, desks are disgusting. No cafeteria. Will they even have enough people to clean the bathrooms? They are such hypocrites. On one hand, Chris's Cousin is having a fireside chat with the Mother of Empathy, so we can be more empathetic for our customers. But, we can't be empathetic to our own employees. Tell me how someone who doesn't have after school care right now is supposed to just find something in 2 weeks? How about we wait and see what our bonus / merit is going to be before I even begin to consider coming back. You pay me to do a job. If I do that job to your satisfaction, it shouldn't matter if I am in Dearborn or on the moon.
My coworkers are all in Mexico, Europe and Asia. I don't think I'll see them in the "collaboration centers".
@1bld+ Based on the work I see from those LCCs, people based out of Dearborn don't have anything to worry about.
"because Ford understands who is working" - there is no evidence this is true or this matters.
The people who are whining about RTO will be replaced because Ford understands who is working, who's not and have been moving design/engineering/testing to other countries at a lower cost...funny how the prima donna's believe they can't be replaced.
All those retirement eligible employees that moved out of state are semi retired anyway. Ford has had 4 years to come up with a replacement plan for them. Go ahead and insist you can't RTO. Bye, bye.
It's about time.
Was there an official communication in writing (or video) that can be shared? Interested to hear whats up
You can easily find info on the higher % that remote workers got layoff or quit. So the issue of remote worker will end when there is no more remote worker.
If you insist that RTO can only be @ Dearborn. you might want to start to practice Spanish for an alternative location.
I guess my question is so many people live outside of Michigan and they informed HR and are remote in HR system. Like when you look up your info in the HR system shows remote does that mean you’re okay? Did they mention anything about out of state remote employees?
Well if you moved out of state during work from home your sc--wed. It was never going to last forever and now good luck finding a job that pays close to what you have now. I feel bad for who ever thought this sh it show would last. However at least maybe the state you are in now will pay more than Michigan being unemployed.
Do you know what the verdict is on people who moved out of state and had their addresses changed?
When will [team member in other countries] RTO in Dearborn so we can all collaborate in Dearborn?
That’s a really good point. I hadn’t thought of that. Hard to argue if in-person “collaboration” is so critical.
This is because it’s not. Management’s whole obsession with RTO is fueled by their desire to show they are on the team. Commercial real estate and its investors are panicking and the crony capitalists have to do all they can to delay the inevitable until they can dump their declining investments.
For engineers, the rational policy is, show up in person when necessary, when there’s something to do that can’t be done on a computer in a cubicle. That’s what we’ve been doing for 4 years now and it works fine.
Not going to happen. I am more efficient working from home. How am I going to do my side jobs, watch my sports and TV shows if I am in the office. I earn less money if I am in the office.
What about our team members in lcc (India, Brazil, mexico)? When will they rto in Dearborn so we can all collaborate in dearborn? When that happens then I will rto.
Won’t do a hard RTO in DF org. We are the org that always allows exceptions, that’s why our processes su-k and we don’t deliver on time or with quality.

I am not going in to hotel a spot
Plenty of folks out of work right now that would jump at the chance to drive in every day! Just sayin.......
RTO su-ks a$$
Once the novelty wears off, the compliance rate levels off into 25% - 30% range if that.
@fub+1qQ6HKrK .....LOL! So far the dress code from my dept's mandatory RTO, most are unshaven homeless looking slobs. And you know what, I'm going to join them. The women arent much better dressed either.
If I got to drive to the unkept 'collaboration' center 3x per week, might as well be comfortable. Plus the 'free address' desks and chairs are nasty to put it mildly, so our clothing might as well match the dirtball facilities we have to stay in.
Its an interesting experiment, this RTO.
Kumar has no idea of the people underneath him especially the unqualified clueless LL5's.
*Except for remote workers
When clothes don't fit, there are two possible solutions. One is buy new. The other is lose weight.
It’s all of ford
Return to what office?
