Webcams installed on screens

Webcams have been installed on all of our computers over the weekend at NV.
Has anyone heard of any policy change mandating to keep cameras on during meetings now ?

@ft because even though ‘in person’ work is the most effective and impactful way to work, the travel budget is still zero…so if you are on a distributed team, remote work is just fine.

For those keeping score at home, in person interactions are only valuable to the company if it doesn’t cost them any money.

I'll show them. The first time I pick my nose, I will flip the booger on to the camera. The health police are sure to scramble to my cube and show me to the exit. Keep 'em busy.

@ft

It’s to communicate with our team members overseas.

Why do we need cameras we are all RTO. I’m going to uninstall teams because we can just all collaborate onsite.

@b3+1 is correct, cubes are being updated, maybe smaller. But they are clean, fully up-to-date NEW hardware,better then an onsite employee. All this hard work and money to ensure RTO is successful.

‘Corporate Standard’ cube config is two monitors, docking station and a hardwired webcam. Webcams have privacy flap which is a physical shutter if you’re concerned about that sort of thing.

Consider yourself lucky that they are investing in your site to bring you ‘up to standard’. That isn’t the case at all locations…

Rice Creek also got webcams installed on every PC in the last month. Have not heard about anything requiring that we be cameras on though. I've kept the cap closed on mine until now.
