Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Frank Jules runs the Global Business segment (Fortune 50) of Anne Chow's AT&T Business Solutions. There are usually reorgs all the time in the different segments, or at least in the beginning of most years. No big deal; AT&T has plenty of excuses to lay off sales people whether in Global, Enterprise, National, Regional, SMB segments irrespective of quota numbers...

What does this do to increase the stock price? The reorgs are musical chairs for SVP’s to justify their jobs!!

To the previous poster who said that IT is “the only safe area in the company”, while some areas may be safer than others, unless you are a level 5 or above, no one can say with certainty that they are safe. If costs need to be cut, many IT jobs can be easily done by domestic or international contractors for much less $.

I wish you, and everyone else here, the best, but I hope that no one is getting lulled into a false sense of security.

Best thing we all can do is not to take on debt and save as much $ as we can to provide our own peace and security.

There will not be any head count reduction in IT. Furthermore, it’s really the only safe area in the company that is growing the business and as a result, head count increases. Been in IT a long time and never would have guessed this would happen. I still see this as a way to ramp up the business and then sell it off or spin it off like T usually does. Not completely out of the realm of possibility!

That guy needs to retire
