JIRA or not JIRA, if you are on the list of diffusion it does not matter. Most JIRAs nobody even looks at properly, you are like a lonely wolf doing something. Nobody checks the technical aspects and what needs to be done really. The PM wants all info from you, but nobody is there to guide you properly and give you enough time. Then you work your butt off and get laid off without reasons. The company does not know what they are doing, it is a total chaos in various silos.

@fr What is your job? What do you do? What value do you add? If jira is essential, it helps to have a PM for it. It doesn't prove or track anything accurately if the manager doesn't understand all the work that encapsulates their concise user stories. It doesn't document effort appropriately, and even worse a PM does not have any background on the work that is done so they can't keep track either. I remember when my manager started we-ponizing jira tasks and gave me one that was impossible and absurd to sc--w me and another person from the team came across it and commented innocently about how this is impossible and bullsh-t. They weren't aware there was an intentional attempt to discredit me going on. Manager was furious. I love how Jira tasks don't go on while you ghost write and do work for multiple people. If it's a tool to keep track of things sure, but it just gets used as a we-pon here. You feel like an admin? What is the work you do outside of that?

@f5 Is it a story or epic? LL5 tells me to assign a Jira ticket, ok boss I will do it and then I say the H1B engineer who has 100 assigned Jira tickets and never reads them. Never responds to emails , slack or teams. I get the deer in headlights look, well go over and talk to him turns out that does not work either. I turn into admin assistant, this is not engineering it is a joke and a total waste of time not fun meanwhile more recalls and now I know why Ford is the recall king. let the layoffs come, be done with it rofl

@fk Should have worked on your fiber intake before quitting.

@c6 Sounds like planned violence. I quit because I was in a hostile environment without protected and fair treatment. The same day I quit was the same day i was also being lied to about agreements made by multiple people such as the HRBP.

Patience , it takes time. Watch for car sales numbers, vehicle lease news, and the FEDs rate cuts by more than 0.25% back to 0 % or - 2%. It is coming , my friends! Brace for the worst and much worse than GFC!.

I took it today and had to flush twice.

This is my practice for what's in store for the boss's desk when he get my resignation and I hope he isn't expecting a letter along with this !

I will beat them to any and all upcoming downturns.

Right before Xmas they are laying off upwards of 10,000. JF was sitting next to me in a stall pinching a loaf the other day and I heard a reving motor ring tone, then heard him talking to head of HR and saying, well someone has to take one for the team. Guy did not even have the decency to give a courtesy flush.

I’ve heard October and that it will be a large one. This is from a well connected LL5 who just retired recently.

@OP Maybe there isn't one. Previously, Ford would make a big layoff and that's it. This constant "chipping" of the workforce block by doing smaller layoffs every month, is what has been happening lately. Why layoff 3,000 employee at once when they can do smaller batches all year around?

The waiting game is the one getting at you OP. You want to know that you are in the clear (or not), and go back to focus on work. I understand, but that's not how the game is played anymore. The idea seems to be about keeping us scared for our jobs, forcing us to quit, instead of receiving a severance package in a layoff. So you could find another job and quit, which is not a bad idea at all (why stay around where you are not wanted?). Or you could stop worrying at all, which also means stop giving a f about Ford, and is kind of liberating. It is just a business transaction, not different from going shopping.

What you should not do is doing what you are doing now, because that worrying and dreading can end in mental and physical issues for you and your family. Your health goes first, buddy. So just make sure to cut expenses, streamline your savings and investments, and try not to worry.
