Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

How much longer are you waiting?

I was planning to put in my notice back in July, and then layoffs were announced. I decided to wait because my role is highly likely to be cut and obviously I don’t want to miss out on a juicy severance package. I did not expect that I would be here MONTHS later. This week I decided I’ll wait until the first week of November, and if layoffs haven’t happened by then, I’m out. What a completely garbage company Schwab is, I’m not a young chicken and have never experienced such horrible management in my entire career. Anyone who thinks highly of Schwab has clearly never worked anywhere else.

Just out of curiosity, how do you guys know if your position is highly likely to be cut?

Layoffs will not happen until after the November client conversion weekend. Schwab will bleed the workers dry before they lay them off. Come on man, it isn't rocket science. The EC makes all the decisions (both good and bad). When the EC makes good decisions they are rewarded with massive stock options. When they make bad decisions they lay off workers and retain their positions. Plenty of great companies out there that treat their employees a lot better than this. Have fun returning to the office so you can see the smug look on leadership's faces as they diminish your work/life balance. Hey, but the coffee is free and you can get an annual raise that will be below the cost of living increase. Smug faces thinking....Su-kers!

Schwab simply does not care about their employees. Leadership talks m0re to vendors than their engineers. Leadership (Simon) buys into what vendors sell him as to what the vendor's products can do. But Simon is clueless as to understanding why product owners can't take advantage of the value that products can bring because of immature areas within the infrastructure. If you want to realize the value of vendor's products, then TALK to your engineering teams to UNDERSTAND the roadblocks and barriers that exist. And actually HELP to remove those barriers. Keeping your head buried in the sand is not leading. Good luck getting respect from your engineers! Your title does not make you a leader; your actions do! Simply clueless :-(

Schwab su-ks. They treat their employees like shi&. I was there about seven years and hated my life most of the time. The leadership are greedy aholes who lie straight to your face. Crash and burn Schwab.

EC and other bone headed Schwab leaders:

“We don’t understand why the quarterly engagement survey results are down again.”

It’s not rocket surgery, m0r0ns.

Dear EC

I’m not giving you the satisfaction of quitting before layoffs. We are resilient and will wait for the package we deserve. We have given you years of sweat and tears and we will not give up now.

You’re making this extremely painful for all of us and if you continue holding back then we will all go on medical leave for mental distress until you can get your act together.

Sincerely,
A previously happy and engaged employee, but now don’t give a F’

i think everyone is waiting till after layoffs happen. which many think is tomorrow, some believe end of october. the business update this morning (aka earnings call) was about as informative as every other communication we have seen so far.

regardless, there are going to be a couple mass exoduses. first for layoffs, second for everyone who leaves after and was trying to time it, and the third is january/february timeframe when people realize being back in office 3 days a week is terrible

Many of us will leave even if not laid off. We're just waiting to see if we do in case there is severance for us. I'm sure Schwab knows this.

Don’t give the EC any extra incentive to keep holding up the dates, if they think they can squeeze out a few more quitters so they don’t have to pay out anything.
