Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Working at EM has gone downhill fast over the past decade

It was never a dream job, but it used to be so much better than this mess we have to deal with now. Every day here feels like a rollercoaster of uncertainty and stress. Plus, don't get me started on the office politics. It's like every decision we make is influenced by some behind-the-scenes drama. I should've jumped ship when I had the chance.

Awful work environment where back stabbers get rewarded and promoted

Each morning I check my mail to find out what engineers have blundered at BTC that I have to fix.

I fix their blinders and then BTC gets praised for excellent work while all of us in Spring only get complaints about costing $400 per hour.

Executives purposefully overlook all the USA effort going into BTC deliverables.

Never thought my career would end with helping India succeed so they could replace me.

Em leadership just say they want to be the best at everything. Talk about a cop out. Real leaders know they can’t have it all and make the tough choices.

No lie! This place gets worse by the day. Looking to get out ASAP. If you are not looking too, you are doing yourself a great disservice.

“You can still leave boomer. The inbreeding by the boomer generation has this company going senile. Let the next generation give it a whirl.”

Someone is awful fussy this morning. Did someone not get nursed last night? Does someone need mommy?

Most of us feel like we are on 1 year contract.

Most of us feel like we are in a competition with our colleagues.

8% PIP every year is perceived as just a headcount reduction to move more work to India.

Hotdesking only to empty owned buildings reinforces the above feelings of not being valued as employees.

Management would rather empty a building than assign desks to employees.

Unfortunately OP you're right. XOM is a completely chaotic company right now where everybody is trying to cover their a$$es the best they can. I can say that the chaos goes way up all the way to the VPs. They don't know what the heck to do because the orders coming from the management committee are totally inconsistent, contradictory, unclear, or plain and simple stupld. So, everybody's confused, they don't know what to do, and of course there's no clear way to plan anything. Right now XOM's managed on a daily or monthly basis by incompetent people like DW and KM. They only care about the price of the stock today. And they're doing a pathetic job. Last time I checked it was like 10% down. The VPs don't know what to do so their orders to the managers are inconsistent and unreasonable and this trickles down to all employees. So if you feel like XOM's going downhill, that it doesn't have a clear path forward, like it's a rollercoaster and so on it is because XOM really is going downhill. There's no leadership. But, investors love it because they're making a ton of money. But this company is done. It won't last. EVERY EMPLOYEE AT XOM SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR ANOTHER JOB LIKE RIGHT THIS MINUTE.
