This resource landed in little india village of franklin as a SSE and ended up in testing again??? WOW what a remarkable career transition from (senior software engineer to test lead) — like tossing in a curry leaf either whole or as a paste whenever needed!
Oh wait, nm software testers are getting laid off. Is this test lead going to be doing serum/stool testing now??

My goodness they are laughably incompetent. And you just know they will be passing all our data to their countrymen now that they have access. I bet they are being paid in retailer gift cards

a recent conversion from wipro to nm fte has just posted about their exciting new role as a test lead on linkedin. the org this individual is in, will shock no one -- the little india village of franklin.

amazing that they can be so tone deaf to not even hide their correct title as an employee...

@hz+1jjt3yb70 It’s been that way for years, so much redundancy and layers with the product teams. As an engineer we feel very removed from the clients, it’s like playing the telephone game to get needed information from the clients.

If I were DG, here's what I'd be digging into on ICS:

  1. Project Reality Check: Forget what Bug Eyes says. He needs the real story on 2024-25 ICS projects- budget numbers, actual results, user experience and straight talk from the business stakeholders including DGs leadership team
  2. Org Mess: Way too many layers and overlaps. His own team will confirm that everyone is building their own little kingdom. Time to streamline that and look into Vendor Management and Product.

Vendor Shenanigans: Bug Eyes gets freebies from vendors (tickets, etc.)… why not put vendor management under V (DG’s USAA hire)?
Product Team: Why does Bug Eyes have his own product team? Seems redundant. Makes more sense to put it under AS.

@f8+1jjt3yb70 - I have been told ICS is next. Bug Eyes is under pressure.

About time this change happened. Ppl keep blaming everything in the environment except themselves. Getting anything tested is like a million bucks. Way to take out the trash DG!

How does ICS continue to avoid layoffs? 90% of that group is pure waste. It's time to put some budget eyes on bug eyes.

You’re right. And there are no plans at all to do anything about the legacy apps. Having a target state architecture is not a plan, either. That’s a PowerPoint.

The problem with testing isn’t the tools. It’s the garbage legacy apps. Blaming the testers is just putting your head in the sand.

Get over it. All business decisions are not rational. Life ain’t fair. Don’t like it? Quit.

You should include progress made in the past 2 years just for baseline.

Tooling has never been an issue for my team, but it does feel like data and environments are getting progressively worse. And the last tester in my team was working really hard to move into a software engineering role since CTRLF (he did last year).

Is what we’re doing the right thing? I don’t know, but I do know the path for the past 2 years hasn’t been great. I’m going to give it a fair shot and not just assume failure because I actually want things to get better.
