Just wanted to check everyone’s thoughts since some posts suggest that this week May be the week layoffs will occur.
FOMC meeting is 9/19th. Do you think layoffs will really occur same week of FOMC meeting? Yay or nah?
My thoughts is that it could happen to move focus away from the layoff announcements. What y’all think?
No layoffs today. Guess we are safe this week if nothing happens tomorrow.
I think the "Schwab customer" is a troll. Anyone with half brain would understand a company of this size has many departments not involved with bank or brokerage. Are the janitors expected to be Series 7 licensed too? TF?
@ezc+1oF3llhj I've got bad news for you. Don't ask how many offshore contractors we have that don't even know what an equity is, let alone FOMC.
FOMC = Federal Open Market Committee (comprised of the regional Fed Reserve banks that make up the U.S. Central Bank ) when this group meets is when a change in interest rates may or may not occur)

As counterintuitive as it seems, lay-off news can actually be used to counteract news of a potential rate hike to preserve the stock value to a certain extent. Employees are expense, and cutting expense is good for the balance sheet as revenue starts shrinking.

Kent Clark is having an all managers meeting today for Ops....makes me think layoff announcements will happen soon. It seems they happen on tues/wed so this meeting today could be prep for that. Doubt FOMC would impact this at all
What is the FOMC meeting? The goalposts keep moving for these layoffs; now people on this board are saying November. I wanted to think that this week will be it because it has been months since the initial announcement. This has dragged on forever and it is very stressful for employees.
