Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Say Your Worst

Edward Jones culture is long gone. Please reference what made this place special and how they ki-led it.

I’ll go first: Our customer is the branch team and we should move Heaven and Earth to help them achieve what they are asking for. Next!

@ew do you think she cares? Bro, she’s made $124 million during her tenure. Way more than JW.

When she’s out at 65, she’ll have $150 million and won’t give any of us a second thought.

I remember getting to work and seeing Jim Weddle in the cafeteria smiling, talking, and paying for people’s meals. I always got my breakfast paid for when I saw him. It made you feel welcomed and that the company actually cared about you. Now, I see Penny getting her hot water for her tea and no one talks to her. She’s doesn’t make much eye contact. I hope deep down she knows she’ll never live up to her predecessors and that she’s hated. Funny how one MP can be so loved and the next so hated.

@bf I was here. The sinkhole was actually AFTER our Tempe data center was already built. I should know: I was part of the I.S. team involved in both.

I remember when there used to be an Amplify column (maybe it was called speak up or something) where the MP would address things sent in as suggestions, feedback from the field, etc. Eventually that went away- I think they could not handle even the slightest criticism. Now the Monday morning Amplify is always "look we went to Aspen, look at this branch story that sounds made up, look hoe well we're doing". It's frustrating. It used to at least seem like we might be heard. Now there is no such illusion.

@av Yep. Or when the sinkhole formed right in front of our one and only datacenter at the time, leading to the creation of the Tempe campus.

We have never had a layoff. If you work hard there will always be opportunities. Most of us plan to retire from here.

@an I can’t wait to be like GM. They’ve never had layoffs, right? Or outsourcing? Heck, why not become Mondragon. Top notch, comrade!

@a7 I was just thinking about GEM the other day. I still have the gem I got during new associate training over 20 years ago. Do you remember when everyone in the home office was supposed to diagram how the work we did tied back to the customer and hand the diagram outside of our cubes? Now we don't even have cubes that belong to us.

The NEW idea program, where associates could submit ideas and win a reward if they had a top idea?

I remember when not only did my immediate GP know my name, but even the head of the division knew my name. The division regularly had speed dating sessions with GPs and top leaders in the division so that you could get to know them and they could get to know you.

@ah say it louder for the bootlickers in the back! Imagine how much the rest of the board and the 1000 GP’s su-k off the bottom line if this is just the CEO…. The board alone is probably over $100M….

Penny's Yearly Earnings Recap:
2019 = $11.7 million.
2020 = $14.7 million.
2021 = $22.6 million.
2022 = $21.4 million.
2023 = $25 million.
2024 = S29 million.
Total = $124,400,000

The time to unionize is now!

We need partners to share the work not the profit! We are not beholden to shareholders so we don't have to lay people off when times are bad.

GEMs is dead - going the extra mile. A++ Service is dead. It used to be the customer was the person that writes the check and yes, you'd do everything you could to help the branch teams and therefore help the client. You treated internal service receivers with respect and you took ownership. Our DL told us not to be phone robots and to treat everyone like a person. All long gone.

@OP Amen to that ! I often reminded my former teammates in TRO, Cash and now TBS that our branch teams are the reason we have jobs. Ultimately they pay our wages and without them we would not have a job.

And to prove I’m no troll. Started with the form in ‘06. Have held 7 roles with ever increasing amounts of responsibility. So the haters can put their experience against mine. I’ve eaten the Aramark sh-t food more than I care to admit. “SWEEEEET!”
