If my group was already affected on Tuesday, does that mean we're safe for the rest of these cuts? My manager is being very tight-lipped and I can't figure out why. If the answer is "no," then just say it. I'd rather know that than have to deal with this uncertainty for one more day.

We had a group meeting from the VP on Tuesday that we are safe for now. Based on GM's email about the layoff may last for weeks and months, I still do not feel safe.
US cuts were NOT all made Tuesday. Several cuts yesterday and I’d anticipate many more today. My guess is that they can’t tell us we’re safe with certainty because we’re approaching the end of the FY. My guess is that if we come in softer than expected, there will still be more cuts into FY24.
It’s definitely not true that all the US cuts were on Tues. I know people in the US who were cut yesterday and more who have the dreaded meeting invite today. If your leader schedules a group meeting to talk about the cuts that is usually a good sign that they’re done (for now, in six months who knows).
Typo in my post below. (@lrf+1meyBq4o). I meant to say “many independent contributors” got let go. Not “my”.
@evs+1meyBq4o - I believe there were cuts in the US yesterday as well.
Your manager may not know much. Managers and directors in my group knew nothing before Tuesday. We lost a Director though. From the cuts I’ve seen, many appear to be senior leadership roles. But I know that isn’t the case across the board and my independent contributors got let go as well. I guess we’ll just continue our anxiety of wondering if we have a job for the next few months. Hopefully Geoff Martha gets removed soon.
My understanding is all US cuts were made Tuesday, the next two weeks is the OUS cuts which take longer because other countries protect workers rights far better, some outright preventing termination without cause
The manager doesn't know either.
