After Microsoft announcement early this year, Meta will also be laying off, 5% of its staff will be cut by February. Expect 2025 to be a bloody year in tech!
My guess is more than 50 people in MSIP let go, likely just as many or more about to be added in Asia.
I'm Qualcomm employee and can confirm layoffs happened last week. Qualcomm is an Indian ghetto! Unless you're from Sr director background you can't survive! If you have self-esteem and dignity, you should start looking for other opportunities.

Source: reliable person in program mgmt said that a Sr Dir notified him/her that he/she was affected and that ~40 design eng are impacted too. Gone by end of the weeks. Mark my word, it's happening.

Don't be a sitting duck! You have to be proactive and be looking for other options to escape the qcom layoff machine. If you do nothing, eventually your job will be moved to India. Don't use the "go where?" excuse. Even with limited places to go, you still have to be looking. I may mean a less salary. Face reality here! Qcom doesn't care about you, your family or your financial obligations. As soon as they can cost-cut and you're in their g-nsights, your gone. It's hard and it's ugly out there, but you have to try. Layoffs are 100% happening. A buddy of mine was told this morning that their department was laying off several people. The people affected have not been notified.

Jan layoffs are real. Heard a confirmed case in HW soc team.
Nvidia SOCs are more performant than Q, but Q is better in terms of performance/Watt, which is extremly important for battery-powerd devices. If you are a Windows/Linux guy, just get the snapdragon laptop, you will realize how good it feels to get 10 hours and more on a single charge! Compared to Intel/AMD, you can hear the CPU fan blasting when you just watching Youtube!

the problem is that 5G is a thing of the past, Every player stopped investing in 5G chip dev. that's why q stock is not going up. For the ARM-based PC, competitors like NVIDIA digits supercomputer are light years ahead of Qualcomm. (not to mention most of CADs only run on AMD and Intel platforms better). Sorry, I just can't see a future in Qualcomm
