Thread regarding Ford layoffs

The company culture is gone

I'm no longer proud to work at Ford. This is a completely different company than the one I joined.

@2cjs+1rgm9bM8 and @2imb+1rgm9bM8 I'll leave when I want, not when a couple of bots say so in a public forum.

Anyone who is unhappy at Ford is free to leave. Nobody is forcing you to stay.

@emg+1rgm9bM8 What motivates me to go to work? Money. We exchange our time and knowledge for money + benefits. Every time I hear some guys saying that they'll continue working after winning the lotto, I just smile and nod, knowing that they are full of ... I told some friends that think like this, "you'll keep working until the next time you get pi---d off at work, and then you'll quit on the spot".

I know some people would like to prove themselves, that are ambitious enough to continue working, but as I pointed out to them, not as a pawn. With the money they'd start their own company and they'd be the ones bossing around. Nobody with enough money laying around would be taking sh!t from a manager or company.

Now, you can have a paycheck, but also be proud of your work. There are days like yesterday, stuck in a 3 hour meeting doing nothing for an issue that would take 15 minutes to solve, just listening to the same sh!t going around the room, while my manager disregarded once again my technical advice because required accountability. And there are days like today, where I was able to finish an important piece of a project, and asking another team for help on a different issue wasn't as painful as sometimes it is. Yesterday su-ked! Today I am tired, but happy with myself.

The main concern I have at Ford is that I am getting more sh---y days than before. I think because most people are checked out, with the threat of layoffs and lack of leadership. RTO is another thing pi----g off people.

It is true that is getting harder and harder for me to start my day. I am not yet fully dedicated to find another job. I am casually looking for something else, particularly after days like yesterday. Or Ford improves (I doubt it) or eventually I'll find something better, including more $$$. No point in leaving for less $$ just for "pride". After all, "pride" is not an accepted method of payment at stores, LOL.

For those of you that don't like the derogatory statements about Ford on this site won't have to wait much longer. The company has been in a death spiral for the last 15+ years. When I left in 2021 the morale was so bad and with DEI running rampant I could not stomach being there any longer. In 2021 I dumped the stock, took the 6 months pay, the lump sum and got the he-l out. There will be no need for this site in another 3 years because FOMOCO will be gone.

It is pathetic because many people have beat their heads against the wall trying to convince leadership to do the right thing. They have been handed the blueprint of how to fix our issues but don't have the guts to fight for what is right. This is not how we would have acted 10 years ago and the spineless leadership is now getting the results they deserve.

The culture is reverting back to that which Ford had in 2000. Example - Friday at noon I was unexpectedly called into a meeting with a LL5 and his team. The LL5 demanded I arrange for a Monday morning meeting with a non manufacturing European supplier to discuss his (the LL5) demands. Mind you, this is a supplier that had delivered a product and service as promised, however Ford now wants something different (surprise, surprise). Mind you it was 6pm in the supplier's country at the time and most everyone was gone for the weekend. Through personal connections I managed to arrange for a meeting on Monday morning, during which this same LL5 talked down to and threatened the suppliers representative, with more unrealistic deadlines and threats. He literally talked to the rep like he was a child. Again, this was not an issue with quality or missed deadlines or anything of that nature, it was that Ford managment wanted something different than what they asked for. This is what it was like at Ford back in 2000. Most employees dreaded going to work because Ford was a meat grinder, with non stop high pressure meetings full of unrealistic demands, intimidation, threats, and last minute assignments. The pay and benefits were the only thing that kept most employees working, but the quality of the work environment was atrocious. This is what I feel is happening in my department anyway. The good news is that the beatings will continue until morale improves. On a separate but somewhat similar subject, can you imagine what Fords lack of leadership amd direction does to manufacturing suppliers that agree to develop and manufacture parts based on certain volumes that we don't honor? Who pays for that? GSR's? Customers? Suppliers? Leadership? Investors?

No one is proud to work at Ford.

We all work here because we haven't gotten around to prepping for better companies or are so mediocre that this is the best we can do.

There is always a corporate culture. It just sounds like you aren’t happy with the current one.

DF is too arrogant to be a good people leader. I can't speak for his technical expertise, though.

The DF Town Hall was nothing but an, “I and me” speech by him and how HE is going to save the company.
He is a sad representation of leadership and inspiration.
A pathetic joke that should be kicked to the curb along with his idea we are a “software services company “

Mission accomplished! Do you all remember the AHM when JF said he wanted to change the culture?

Translation: He wanted to destroy the culture of quality engineered vehicles with cheap unreliable ones. Perhaps he needs another “humble moment”!!!!!

What motivates you to go to work this morning? If you care about pride in your work, find another job. If you say it’s for the paycheque. Then you probably aren’t that good of an employee anyway and can’t go elsewhere, so likely Ford doesn’t think much of you either.
