Thread regarding Ford layoffs

What’s the point?

They want collaboration yet it’s impossible to find desks together (if at all) or a conference room. Everyone is just on top of each other.

It’s beyond frustrating that we have to spend this much effort just to find a place to work. Lots of attitudes in these buildings these days too. Is this the long term strategy? Hard to see how this gets better.

… using what’s happening at other companies this year as a guide, it’s got to be soon, and it’s going to be a lot.

Seriously… they’re not planning on having nearly as many employees next year as this year.

There will be plenty of space.

Look what’s happening at other companies. They’re cutting staff left and right.

I have no clue when or how many exactly, but using what’s happening at other companies this year, it’s got to be soon, and it’s going to be a lot.

The commercial real estate landlords and their bankers love it.

Makes them all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

It sets the example and perpetuates the management fad that information workers need something more than an internet connection, a computer, and a place to set it.

They’re just trying hard to make our lives miserable so we quit on our own. Let’s not play into their hands.

Came to WHQ and lot 3 was full. I was lucky enough to get the last spot while 3 to 4 cars kept circling around for a spot. I think all the folks who were turned away at Rotunda Center ended up here

Jeez - the point is it’s not about collaboration.

The point is to frustrate enough employees so that they voluntarily find other employment. Seriously you don’t think Kumar knows the desk squeeze situation? Oh but look a squirrel, oh it is Ford Lands fault, squirrel, we are meeting with Ford Land to resolve wink wink, squirrel, oh sorry we are out of time more next month, squirrel

If you are a camera engineer who's responsible for a recall, you definitely can collaborate with a fuel system engineer who has a recall.

You both have a recall and therefore lots to collaborate on.
