That’s a tough one from SF standpoint:

  1. If somebody is stupid enough to come back, do we want them?
  2. On the other hand, desperate people cost less.

Was let go because they did away with my job. I was rehired 6 months later. No regrets here. It has changed a lot over the years but the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Yea I don’t like the way things are done but I have perks. Still able to increase my pension as though I never left, I work from home so it saves me a ton of money. It is what you make of it. If you are that unhappy, go and stop whining about how bad it is.

@eKcyu really depends on why you were laid off. If it was part of the closing of LOC's or a department closing/moving, you could be rehired. I've seen quite a few of those in the past year.

Terminated for cause? You can try, but don't hold your breath.

Theoretically yes, realistically no. They have all the details on termination.

Can someone be rehired at Statefarm if they were terminated?

KgYb, it's actually worse than you stated. For hires after 2012, the employee ONLY is eligible for medical coverage; no spouse or family. Also, in January, they increased the retiree's OOP health premium cost by over 5%.

LISTEN UP - DO NOT DO IT if you're already receiving a pension AND retiree health benefits!!! If you're a retiree already receiving retiree health insurance thru SF, then do NOT return to SF as full timer. (For all that is holy, don't do it, walk far away from this consideration) Upon re-retiring, your status is bumped to those hired after 2012, which received REDUCED retiree health benefits (spouse cost more, spouse may not be eligible). Those that rehire you do NOT know this and you likely will not find out until you're ready to re-retire and discover your cost have doubled (if not more). There are inconsistent answers with the retirement 'experts' - they don't even know the technicalities. If you are told differently, then get it in writing (email?) from a credible representative.

Why would anyone in their right mind want to go back?

The person that left 15 years ago is in for a big surprise. The only thing that is the same from 15 years ago is the company name.

Not an issue if you have relevant experience, and left on good term/standing. Our department hired someone whom last worked for State Farm 15 years ago.
