Thread regarding Alteryx layoffs

Frankly, I'd be happy to take severance and leave

It's not that I hate this place, but it's not the same company it once was. There's too much uncertainty lately to have me consider it as a long-term option anymore. In fact, if they offered a voluntary option to everybody, I'd be the first to accept - as long as it came with proper severance, of course.

The place mismanaged its success, with an overwhelmed executive team hiring yes-men/women to mask flaws, stifling innovation. The private equity acquisition was predatory, slashing development to boost short-term profits for a quick sale. Their strategy bets on customers being too locked in to leave, overestimating value and banking on inertia.

Sad, but time to move on. Per gd

'This is 100% true. Fortunately, one of the biggest toxins in this toxic waste dump that we call AYX Marketing is GONE !!!'

Good. Good. Good. Working at Alteryx is so much better without her. Not missed, not needed, never was.

I once believed men were the issue, but departments led by women can be equally toxic. This is the case with Marketing.

HR personnel do read this board and others.

I remember the days when HR personnel would actually respond to each and every review posted over at the Glassdoor.com AYX review board. Haven't seen anything posted for a long, long time. Guess that's because about 90% of the reviews are neutral to negative.

'Prepare for a HUGE influx of Qlik, Informatica and UT people this summer.'

Same was said years back. Just replace those companies with Genesys, Salesforce, Adobe..

'And yes, the female dominated marketing organization is going to change, and will be much more balanced once we come out the other side.'

Equality. 👌👌👌👌👌

While that may be true, nothing expressed here seems to make a difference in policy. This board is dismissed as one big & unhinged b!+ch session that they wish would just go away.

Also goes for engineering.

Many senior+ are incapable of developing anything past a basic crud app. Just ask them basic FizzBuzz questions and watch them flail.

I have personally recommended friends to weed out Alteryx engineers ruthlessly if they can’t answer basic questions on screening.

It's disheartening. Those C-level execs who pocketed millions have moved to other firms, while us peasants are left struggling and having to hear how our numbers and sales are bad and how we all need to do more.

Our former CEO/CTO/CRO all held multiple jobs/seats at other companies. You feel like a su---r yet?

They destroyed the company and employee stock options. It wasn't the managers and people eating **** right now.

Haha. HR is completely worthless. That's not just an Alteryx thing though - that's pretty much at every firm. Their job is to protect the company and management, not to look out for employees.

Si, but sometimes HR comes through. Especially if you go over their heads.

Prepare for a HUGE influx of Qlik, Informatica and UT people this summer.

Good. Can't wait. We need people with better experience.

And yes, the female dominated marketing organization is going to change, and will be much more balanced once we come out the other side.

About time. A vice president (years ago) was fired by a woman for expressing pride in hiring an all-female team.

Numerous tactics are at play, and they can't attribute it to a 'boys' club' since marketing is predominantly led by women. How many men do we have?

@xj Heaven forbid HR actually lends a hand! The audacity of it all. You’d think their whole gig was to shield folks from dodgy managers or something.

@vt don't trust HR. They make it utterly impossible for managers to put anyone on a pip and hold them to it. It's like a second job, and the pip terms are usually easy to pass.

Other companies would simply tell you to fu-k off, and call it a day, by a certain point.

@a6 during the next Q&A, please ask if Andrew Tate and Candace Owens can host our trivia and give us motivational speeches.

You may not get fired, but you'll go down in history.

Ah, Alteryx’s layoff masterclass: fire the real talent, then bring in C-Level’s Usertesting pals, Sales Qlik buddies, and Customer Success Informatica crew. Meanwhile, the product’s still a broken mess. Honestly, if nepotism was a feature in Alteryx, it would be the only thing that actually works.

What's the easiest way to get laid off or fired ?

Just take a leave of absence. Either you’ll be laid off as soon as you come ba k, or your management chain will be totally different when you return.

Every 2-3 years, the company undergoes significant turnover. Check the careers page photos—none of those employees remain. Same with our page on GD.

This pattern extends to C-suite executives, senior directors, and countless managers. It’s akin to a revolving door, much like a starter wife or starter husband. You don't want to be here for too long.
