Thoughts on Data & AI org?

Curious to hear what folks think about how the Data & AI org actually operates.

How do promotions really work in this group? Is it based on performance and impact, or do you have to be part of an inner circle to move up? Feels like there might be more going on behind the scenes, but open to hearing others’ experiences.

There too many project managers and “data project managers” in that group that have no value.. Also there is another waste called the “culture team”..

The business team's contribution is truly invaluable – they expertly identify the “right” problems, propose vague solutions, and then wonder why things don't magically fix themselves. Kudos to them for making technical teams question their life choices

I think there’s a lot of important work happening in Data & AI that often goes unrecognized—mainly because it’s foundational and not always visible to those outside the function. This is the first critical step toward true digital transformation, and it takes time to show impact. Unfortunately, many still don’t fully understand where the industry is headed or how much groundwork is needed before you see results. It’s easy to question what D&A does without grasping the broader vision and long-term value being built.

@e3 correct there is not much going on there that directly provides great value.

Another question: What do they actually do? (If anything.)
