Any new information about the rumors of an Aug 13th date?

I feel like if there were layoffs today, we would've heard about it - especially in this forum. This site is very active during an actual layoff.

Anyone else thinking that the ELT pivoted from a planned larger RIF after the rumors were shared in order to try to artificially inflate morale temporarily? There have been odd shakeups happening somewhat quietly the last couple weeks so it is strange that we’ve heard nothing so far today
Boss said it’s definitely happening but “not with people you work with”. Didn’t ask further. In commercial product management.

@z7 yup, I was also part of the April RIF. When I logged on that morning, saw an invite for a 15-minute meeting with my manager for mid-day. Meeting had a weird lock icon in outlook, meaning it was encrypted. Guessing it hid the HR reps email for the meeting.

@yn nah, I was RIF’d in April and invite came out minutes before the call with manager and HR.
@yf Are you just offering this as general information, or has this actually happened to anyone this week yet? So far, there seems to be nothing official and no actual confirmation of any meeting invites/town hall invites sent. Some have said August 11th, others have said August 13, so you would think that if RIFs were imminently happening there would have been meeting invites already sent at this point.
In the past we’ve seen 15-minute 1:1s scheduled by the impacted employees’ manager for the next day with minimal information. Once the call starts HR will join the call and either they or your manager reads the termination letter.
For entire departments/teams you’d see an invite for a town hall of some sort. These are the worst IMO.
Ask questions if you need something clarified, but all the information will be sent to your personal email address. DO NOT get angry or confrontational since this can jeopardize your severance.
DO NOT download proprietary data…just don’t try it.
The situation su-ks and I feel for anyone who may be impacted this week.

@q6 The constant dread and the almost daily emails announcing a new initiative/pivot.
@j9 this whole “job and team changing every 5 seconds” and “worry about whether I can feed my family in expensive Cali” corporate culture sure is fun. Why work and do a good job when you can work and do a good job, but with constant existential dread?
At this point they need to make a RIF sign up sheet
@e2 I saw on viva engage they're doing something to the conference rooms and random rooms will be upgraded. The closed rooms is probably related to that

@dz I see 2 large meeting rooms in HWD "blocked" for Tuesday and Wednesday of next week (one on each day). They aren't reserved by any particular person, they just say "block" with no other info. Seems a bit ominous. Not sure I've seen that before.
@d2 check the schedule for all rooms in outlook (like you are booking a meeting) on August 13th. You can see if anyone rooms are booked all day by one person

Last time people reported HR reserving meeting rooms for the whole day. Not sure where to look for that.

@OP I have heard this too. Supposed to affect commercial heavily and start Aug 11th :(
I can t really hope for a RIF as it will affect people who don't want to be but if there is one like others I hope I can be in the list!
