Thread regarding T. Rowe Price Group Inc. layoffs

Better to know its coming or not...

I have been asking myself this question since last week when I found this site. Of course then I thought it was a one and done and once Thursday passed I was relieved and glad I had the "heads up" as it gave me time to plan and prepare (as best anyone can) mentally and financially, for the worst. But now this is going on week 2 of 3 and the sleepless nights and indigestion and anxiety are a lot. But still, I think its better to know its coming rather than get blind sided.

I guess I am just venting a little while waiting for this all to play out, but sadly, after how this has been handled and the complete lack of communication/transparency, I don't know if I will ever feel "safe" in my job again.

Anyone wish they didn't know it was coming?

@dx I am not a marketing person so don't get the whole branding play concept. Just as a slob in the ballpark, it seems excessive. And if it is working so well why are we all worried about lay offs? I admit the whole thing seemed more positive when the Orioles are good. The firm just seems to be broke right now. And I have never experience this here before.

@definitely nerve racking times. Speaking to the marketing comments. It is actually a smart partnership. Its a branding play. The subconscious sees the logo and the memory recall later at time when they are making financial decisions will help influence their decision of who to choose.

I am working on my resume and in August will be (hopefully) sending it out. It su-ks, where did they find this crew? They went all in on plastering Trusty all over Camden Yards, but will that really get people investing here? Ballparks are where you advertise beer and soda brands. Are people really thinking about investing? The scoreboard sign is beautiful, and if they had the cash to do it that should have been enough. But the logo is everywhere in the dugouts, bullpens, and other random places. I am shocked it is not printed in the bathroom stalls. Shouldn't they have started small first? To compound things the Orioles are an embarrassment this year. It was a risky gamble and less than a year later the firm is in full blown austerity mode going as far as to change their business model to offshore departments. That is all bad enough, but don't they know this is not the way to conduct layoffs? Everyone is a nervous wreck. It hurts productivity. I constantly check for new "appointments" on my calendar. I really try and I do get things done, but I cannot take the mental or physical toll anymore. I want to work for a company that makes me feel valued. I almost feel like they resent us and find us basically not just replaceable but replaceable by just anyone. I'm done. And to make matters worse I can't even watch an Os game on TV or at Camden Yards without seeing that logo and thinking about all of this mess again.
