Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Did they cut SEVERANCE payout benefits again?

I heard that Nielsen once again is going cheap and has further cut severance payout calculations.

Where you used to get 1.5 weeks per year of service, they had cut that to 1 week per year. Have they cut that even more? Capped it after a certain number of weeks, regardless of how long people worked there?

It's sad that instead of rewarding people that worked there 20-30 years, Nielsen is going cheap and doesn't care about the people that worked late, nights, weekends to try to make it a great company!

Nielsen doesn't care about the average employee but has no problem paying their senior leaders and CEO millions!

I’m not sure about severance, but it appears multiple PRS’ have been misdirected in regards to their PTO balances remaining before their last day. Our “new timeclock” displays a running count of accrued vacation, personal, sick and volunteer time left, but however, the hours shown are inaccurate (apparently). This has nothing to do with their manager or leader, but Nielsen’s lack of correct data or investing in tools that WORK has yet again disrupted the force. The 29th of August cannot get here soon enough so I can be rid of this nightmare of a shell of a company.

I was let go pre pandemic, client facing position in the NY area. Did 15+ years and only got 1 week per year. They also stiffed me out of 15K in due sales commissions....which is why I kept my company Iphone and used it for another year long after I was gone. Lol.

Company changed severance in 2024 from two weeks per year to one week per year of service as a cost measure as aligned to other companies such as Disney. Look closely at your benefit options as you plan your exit.

I got my layoff notice mid-May and am offered 1 week per year for severance. They also offered some of us stay bonuses, some of which were upward of 7-8k, to stay through their projected end dates. My notice was 3 months out and I was offered over 4k to stay.

But they didn't (make it a great company), did they? Let's not lie to ourselves, Nielsen's tanking is also the fault of all those "hard workers" that came to spend 8 hours basically wasting time and doing nothing. I remember when I was there the amount of managers and POs and what not was just insane, and on top, I used to work with the worst engineers I've ever met in my career.

Yes, we all drop the ball and the company lost it's advantage in the marketplace, stop thinking this is a conspiracy theory of some sort.
