Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Changes to the PepsiCo Way

PepsiCo CEO Ramon Laguarta has announced, in submission to the Trump administration, the following changes to the PepsiCo Way:

  1. "Raise the bar on talent and diversity" is now just "raise the bar on talent."
  1. "Act with integrity" is now "act with impunity."

Go forth and MAGA!

It's interesting so-called DEI candidates are good enough to buy Pepsi products but not good enough to be in leadership positions. I personally would rethink supporting a company that felt that way about me. So, the puffy white men complaining on this forum can purchase all of the cheetos because the shelves would be full of them.

Hiring decisions should be based on skills and qualifications, not gender. However, DEI initiatives have helped women secure their place in the hiring process, counteracting outdated beliefs that men are inherently better at any job—mindsets that, unfortunately, still exist.

Similarly, race should not be a factor in hiring. Yet, biases persist, with some people still believing that white individuals are more capable than people of color. If these points can be addressed in a non-DEI framework effectively, that would be acceptable—but simply eliminating DEI without a proper alternative is not the solution.

What about individuals with disabilities? How should they earn a living if we roll back progress? We cannot revert to the practices of 20 years ago. Dismissing an initiative that was developed through extensive expertise and effort, rather than improving it, is a flawed approach.

Additionally, the jobs currently being debated may soon be at risk due to AI advancements. Without government intervention to manage AI’s impact on employment, many positions could disappear altogether. Addressing these challenges requires thoughtful solutions, not just dismantling existing efforts.

There's a common theme on this forum. I'd say the vast majority of people freaking out or complaining about layoffs are the ones calling others words ending "ists" or "phobes" or "old White man bad". They can't win on substance so they personally attack. It's typical Leftist behavior. Normal people don't talk this way. Because someone disagrees with you they are not a racist.

Those that preach the loudest have the most to hide.

It amazes me how the DEI paparazzi comes out in force. I for one, am pleased to see a return to normalcy. We need to hire the best candidates instead of worrying about checking certain boxes. If the shoe doesn’t fit, don’t wear it. Besides the culling of middle management and IT roles will rid us of most of these underperforming individuals anyway. Should’ve picked something more relevant when choosing the degree, instead of something that could eventually be replaced with AI or outsourced cheaper. I might suggest a “gasp” blue collar career to avoid future layoffs. Until then, buh bye

Wait until these people realize that DEI means diversity in thought as well as appearance.

Wait until the racist people in these comments realize DEI includes all women, all ages, anyone with any handicap whatsoever, pregnant women & anyone starting a family, literally anything other than young straight white men willing to never take a day off. Good luck with that. Nobody fits in that category for long.

Good maybe now we can actually hire people who are qualified vs putting a check mark in the right boxes! 4 years we have endured high prices, inflation, forcing the jab and HR kissing the backside of Pedo Joes insane policies! All the while bragging about OHS results, useless town halls, morale in the toilet, constant layoffs hidden as reorgs and declining sales and market share! One constant remains true through it all is the toxicity, nepotism and favoritism that plays out daily.
