Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford commercial during the games today...

How absolutely disgusting. I was watching the games (not the Lions) today and I caught a Ford ad several times in which the slogan was "All in for America." I just laughed. Ford is firing American workers and replacing them with jobs in Mexico, South America and India. JFC. The slogan should be "All in for our Shareholders."

I thought the exact same thing. All in on Mexico would be more accurate.

The thing is, Mexico is technically in America. The advert says "all in for America" but doesn't specify the United States. There is North and South America - this is how they're not technically lying. It's a game of semantics and they're hoping the majority will ASSUME it's the USA.

Ford will only support Black people to make themselves look good and hoping that people will buy Ford poor quality products.

I will not buy products from a racist company. Ford discriminate against all race, except Black people.

Ford is going to become a completely 'foreign' company - except for the C-suite. And the balance sheet will look great. They'll all probably receive bonuses for offshoring assembly and white collar office staff.

I've had people ask me what factory I work in when I they see I work at Ford from my badge or I say something. I say I work in the offices in product development, they again assume it's a factory & ask which one & what shift. The general public has zero clue or care that anything is engineered or designed in America. The general public thinks there's a handful of engineers at each plant that work on design & engineering of products. The news could care less about layoffs in the offices of white collar workers.

Everyone thinks engineers are paid too much as well. Even a neighbor of mine who is a UAW Ford retiree, worked for 30 years 3 months, retired at 49 years old & is on his 31st year of living off his pension, says that the engineers make too much & should go. Says the guy who's been paid by a company for 61 years without any education, while he's asking if I've heard of retirees will make more money.

The general public thinks the Detroit Three have too many white collar workers anyway, so I don’t think you’ll get a receptive audience.

Ford: “All in on America” slogan ….

Complete Bull$hit!!! That’s a big fat lie!!! Ford is truthfully “ALL IN on Outsourcing 20,000+ white collar jobs to Mexico, South America and India!”

@dos,

The reason the media ignores the white collar firing is, the public doesn't even know the white collar knowledge worker jobs even exist. Most of the public thinks everyone works at the plants. I'm an engineer and I always get which shift do work? They think all of the development and testing for a new vehicle takes place over a few months at the plant. Also they just assume the engineers are UAW.

I'm not sure if Ford is : "All in for our shareholders" .

I agree, it's only a response to the UAW situation.

Office jobs will continue to be outsourced.

Anyone who complains about office jobs being outsourced will be ridiculed. People will say that we need to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps. And the older generations will shout about how much worse they had it and how they're doing fine today and we must all be lazy or financially irresponsible.

To all my Ford office worker colleagues who don't own a house today - I say good luck ever buying one in the future. It doesn't look too realistic. Let's hope we get to keep our jobs.

What is ridiculous is that nobody calls them out on what they are doing. All the press and politicians care about are the UAW jobs. I would love to see the press do an expose on the outsourcing of the white collar knowledge worker jobs. Show Americand all the overseas gigantic tech centers they have built. Show that the foreign transplant OEMs are actually employing more Americans.
