Does anyone know when the next layoffs are going to hit? Is there an offer of early retirement? When should I expect a 15 minute call on my calendar? Is Cisco laying off in small? I don't think it's a big revenue generator but not sure.

I actually hope a lot of older workers in my BU get laid off. They basically don't add anything significant to any projects which will bring revenue to the company but simply spend all day in meetings waddling around. A huge number of PEs/DEs are taking their role for granted and are sticking around due to their long history.
ER before 8/12, LR in Q2
Other thread reporting 8k gone. Hopefully that is combined LR and ER. We'll hope and pray.
You can pick which one you want to be on. I will ask my mgr to put me on both.
That's not really how it works. Cisco doesn't care what's best for you, the employee, and let you decide if you want to grab some extra financial compensation as you leave. If you want to leave, odds are you'll end up leaving and saving Cisco the severance package.
Otherwise, they're going to pick an older, more expensive worker over you. I say that, because most older workers realize that the older you are, the harder it is to find new work at the same or higher wages and they don't want to start over with a new company where they'll have to build their reputation all over again. Younger workers have gotten used to switching companies every 2-5 years, but at some point one of two things is going to have to give: workers as they get older will have to develop more company loyalty and quit jumping ship so frequently or companies and hiring managers are going to have to start hiring older workers. Otherwise, if no one is hiring older expensive workers, and the government keeps raising the minimum retirement age, there's going to be a growing number of people who are too young to retire, but too old to get a job and end up stuck on unemployment and welfare.

That's not how the process has worked in the past. When they announce the LR, the list of people have already been determined. We're less than a week from Aug 12, so that list is already made and it's too late to volunteer for it. And the past several years, when the LR is announced, effected users are notified the following three days in the U.S. & Canada.
Typically, most companies have a target # of people they need to get rid of, so they offer ER to get volunteers and make up the remainder with an LR that follows after the ER. If the ER is going to be announced on Aug 12, then the LR will be later. If the LR is Aug 12, then the ER should have already been announced.
Why August 12?
Because that's the date for the earnings call where LR's are usually announced publicly.
It never stops amazing me the c-ap people will post here and everyone believes it. You have to ask your manager to pout you on the LR list but you know for sure the actual date even though it's not announced yet even to management. Yup you should ask to be on the list.
Why August 12?
@dnz, you’re not far off stupid yourself. The OP was clearly referring to Small as not being a high revenue generator, not a lay-off.

If you think a lay-off has anything to do with increasing revenue, you deserve to be laid off for stupidity. Take your time, you’ll figure out what will happen when less people are getting paid. Something will go down. You can do it. I know you can figure it out
