Is IBM management still checking the badge readers for reports on who is coming into the office ? Employees are smart enough to come in one door with a badge reader and exit out of another door which doesn't have a badge reader. LOL ! Seen a few scams by people who are smarter than the id--t bean counters in Armonk or so called IBM Security.

Global Real Estate (GRE), formally RESO, is responsible for ensuring the RTW process is implemented through office consolidations and closures. Security on the other hand is tasked with badge tracking. HR has set the policy. It’s a multifunction implementation. Can’t point the finger to which function is totally responsible other than managers being dictated from above new reporting locations per business unit and sharing the portal for badge swiping results (still managers only impact in US). As a result many managers have left IBM since the January 2024 HR policy announcement, transparent about tracking. People don’t leave IBM due to poor direct line management, they leave due to poor corporation-wide strategy.
Bet AI could do it! Hahaha!😂
GRE is real estate...you'd think they'd be stable, albeit shrinking.
Badge readers/office security is GRE, not CIO.
And we know how poorly they manage and monitor NW infrastructure at IBM. IBM CIO could never do anything right. LOL !
IBM may want voluntary quits, but at this point is that a realistic expectation?
If you are still with the company, after decades of RAs, after everything has been closed and sold off...then you probably know how to be a survivor. Like how to make an employer terminate you instead of you crying uncle.
If the badge system and its procedures have indeed decayed as much as comments suggest, then I would think that employees have already thought up creative ways to get around any badge in/out requirements. After all...since management is setting the standard for cheating for cash flow, I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see some kind of turnabout.
Mass exodus is exactly what IBM wants.
Let's see what the targeted FCF for 2025 is at the next earnings call... I bet it will go up again. If it does, you know exactly what IBM is going to do... cut COSTS again.
Wake up!
@ff+1wfs0utp Where did you hear that? 5 days a week is never happening, I could see mandating 3 days a week…but even that will cause a mass exodus
Rumor has it that IBM will force most people back into the office 5 days a week starting the 3 week of January. Let's see if that comes true.
Badge readers are usually part of IBM CIO NW infrastructure.
Just curious...who at IBM is actually responsible for the badge readers? Do the real estate people manage them as part of the buildings and facilities, or do the security people manage them? They all seem pretty dysfunctional, whoever they are.
IBM’s ultimate goal is to lower costs to rock bottom. 2024 has gotten close to the Kyndryl model (8% of work force on shore) when it comes to services. The wild card is SW and Infrastructure. I suspect IBM will settle on a 25% on shore SW number due to acquitions, and a 40-50% number for infrastructure given that most of their plants/labs are on shore. Net net there is most likely one more downsizing to get squeezed in, and it may focus more on band 10 and above as that’s where the costs are now located
There is no badge out at my office... anyway, no longer going to the office as management has said they are unable to collect the badge reader information and generate reports... if your are still going to the office, you are just wasting your time.
Don't count on IBM to fix the badge reader issue... that would cost too much money.
Still wondering what is coming our way in January... you know that these id--ts have certainly something in store for us!
