It’s frustrating to watch those who don’t deliver get rewarded, while the ones who actually carry the team are buried under extra responsibilities. Instead of fair recognition, it feels like promotions come down to who’s in the boss’s inner circle and not who’s earning it. That kind of favoritism ki-ls motivation faster than anything else.

American workers are experiencing stagnant wages and their smallest share of national wealth since 1947, even as corporate profits soar, contributing to the perception that wealth is concentrated at the top rather than distributed to the workforce. While worker productivity drives the economy, wealth gains primarily benefit shareholders and executives.

@dg They were not playing, that is the reason they were promoted because firing them required too much effort.
Because Uniformity Inequality and Exclusion is the Conservative version of my dad's money and country club membership got me this job after I graduated college with a degree in alcoholism and debauchery.
Conservative Cronyism rules at AEP. The more incompetent you are the further you go. Lickspittle leadership will eventually be all that remains. With a President like Trump what do you expect. Losers are winners and we are all paying for losers to succeed. It would be cheaper to give them an allowance and get back to adulting.
As a corporation they’ve proven themselves basically useless and show no interest in improving service or modernizing infrastructure. Not sure the point of allowing them exist is when they are taking up space for a company that could actually function
Even more fun (sarcasm here) is when they hire people at the staff or principal levels, which are above regular and senior, and they are incompetent. We can't get rid of them apparently. I and most of my team's top resources are at our wit's end with two incompetent staffers. When we bring evidence to our leadership about how bad they are, they basically nod, say okay, and nothing happens. There are no punishments or repercussions for incompetence. Especially in IT.
Promotions at AEP always are related to who you know up top. Looks at the recent changes is Transmission Ops and Engineering. People who are close to VPs got the roles.
Engineering salaries have been stagnant for decades. Eventually everyone will out earn us.
Someone I know who is an elementary school art teacher makes more money than I make at AEP. And this company keeps dumping more and more responsibilities on me for no additional pay. When I brought up to my manager the idea of a promotion, they played stupid with me and acted like they didn’t know how to promote someone or how it works. So yeah, I’m looking for an out now. I deserve better.
