Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Is this quoted comment truthful?

I just read a comment under a post that says:

"You should send that email up the chain. You think they’d want to avoid getting sued. Maybe throw in examples if people dying in storms like the girl up north who was coming home from Fidelity and a tree fell on her car and ki-led her."

WHAT? Did this acutally happen? If so, that is heart-wrenching. I don't work at Fidelity anymore, I just wanted to know if this occurred.

Actually no, a lot of us went in a lot less before the pandemic than we have to now

Did 2020 really do that much of number on yalls brains. Remember we used to have to come in to the office daily/weekly prior to 2019 and now yall are crying when someone was ki-led because of a bad commute day. If this happened pre-2020 it would have been dust in the wind.

Since the pandemic, it’s obvious employees are just numbers. Before they tricked (at least me) us.

I took the 2021 VBO, and this site has been interesting to read and to follow how things are going in Fidoland. In my 30+ years, one of the things I hated was winter weather, and I'm in Texas for crying out loud. The management of the groups I worked in, and I think management overall during my tenure was accommodating when weather caused dangerous travel conditions. Before laptops were a thing, we were offered to be put up at nearby hotels at company expense, and I took them up on it several times. How easy is it now to just give in and allow employees to work from home during extenuating circumstances??? So what if for a day or even a few days groups that are scheduled to go in get a pass because of treacherous roads? It is so sad that employees' lives no longer matter.

badge swipes are more important than any employee’s safety, family, personal life, children, health or general wellbeing,

OP here, I have a few things. Wow, that is a tragedy. For some reason, a link didn't work, so I just googled "Sunapee New Hampshire Woman Tree", and found the article. It happened in December 2022. I'm not based in NH, but I am based in New England, so we know how rough it can get out here. The article reads there was a storm's wind that struck the vehicle. This is truly awful.
@dg+1jky0mej3 You're right. Things clearly do happen, like this. Forgive me for any ignorance but, has Fidelity been lenient towards inclement weather conditions ever since?
That being said, also like @d3+1jky0mej3 said, it could have been any reason not connect week related. I remember going in the office when I didn't have to. The only people who'd know I suppose would be her previous coworkers.

Regardless, the amount of people who aren't getting rest at night, having to brave conditions like this to work... that's not cool, man. Everyone, please stay safe while travelling to work.

if enough employees die commuting for no reason Abby won’t need layoffs

It was my comment. I didn’t mean anything other than that I hope people aren’t feeling pressure to come in during inclement weather because clearly things do happen.

We don’t know the circumstances of that, could have been a voluntary drive but many employees have died in crashes on the way home over the years in general, like anywhere else. It’s very sad. I guess the point is that people should not feel pressure to come in if the weather is bad. It could mean risking life for a job. Hopefully everyone can use their judgement.

Yes, a couple years ago. Coming home from Merrimack. I think it was when we were required to come in 3 days of our monthly connect week.
