Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

WHY THE HECK DO WE STILL

Have employees that are 65 years old. Offer full early retirement and severance and get the ones over 55 out of here and off the books. I know our benefits suc-k but gees that's ridiculous. It makes zero sense to keep these salaries on the books when we could early out them. SF needs to change their retirement plan to get the pension folks moving out the doors earlier.

I think you are missing the point. SF BENEFITS ARE SO BAD PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD TO RETIRE. That is what the poster is saying. Offer a good severence and full retirement benefits at a younger age. It seems that no one can afford to retire until they can get on Medicare ins at 65 because of our sh-t benefits.

Ah, now the truth comes out. You want to get rid of the older gen so you can have their jobs.

Reminds me of Reddit where about half the posters support taking from the rich and giving to themselves. LOL.

If the company would simply follow OP’s advice and “get rid of everybody over 55——the blatantly illegal age discrimination lawsuit alone would end the company.🙄
Many of you do not think before typing, and it shows.

Pension is a nice benefit but i wouldnt say SF's pension is a real good one. And SF retirement plan suc-s. Insurance is outrageous. Full pension is 62. They need a better plan like Yrs of service plus age to get full benefits. All of our benefits su-k by comparison. Especially the high insurance.

@a4 Sure, because the HCL engagement is going so well. Year 3 and offshore still cannot support the work the rebadgers did. Go for it!

I see both sides of the younger generation and the older generation. You have to understand that the older generation who is 55 years or older at the company cant retire due to substance abuse, divorces, child support, living above their means etc. One TM I once had five divorces under his belt. A 100% loser. There are many in the company. There are also lazy younger generation people who have no clue. Leadership who has been chosen with the "fit in" moto is a deep dark problem in the operations of corporate Merica.

@da This is not a retirement club for them to say "It’s their life". Many are incompetent technically and play politics that hurt careers for younger folk that could have progressed a long time ago. They must be removed.

I know many who love the company. It’s their life. They’d rather work here until they can no longer move than to retire are enjoy life with their family. Let them do what they love. I like seeing them work into their 70’s and 80’s. I retired at 55 and never looked back. I’m just built different than the’company men’.

You get jack cr-p support outsourcing, but don't take anyone that knows word. Keep saving you money and enjoy looking at error codes.

Good ideas.

We could take the older/experienced workers and have them start training off-shore employees. They could start the first month by training replacements for any current employee with a year or less experience, then the next month, start replacing those with 2 years experience, and so on

In a year we could replace any current employee with 12 or less years experience.

It would slow down a bit after that, but within 5 to 10 years, every one could be replaced and by then the older workers will age out of their jobs anyway.

Full off shoring in 10 or less years, with the least experienced gone in a year.

The best plan would be to offshore all hourly and salaried employees.

An indian worker will do the same job for one third the salary.

A worker in the Philippines is even less costly.

There would be much less time wasted by employees on sites like this.

Staffing could be 24x7 with a global workforce.
