Bless your heart…Tina!? How you communicate with such - empathy. Tell us more…
To @d3+1jv3rp2xz:
Woof, did you have AI draft up this counterpoint? A pretty easy tell is how many hyphenated breaks are in your sentences.
@ the chubak fan boy in the comment section cheering on the 1000s of layoffs. People like that one are why the company is going to sh-t, fast. Outsourcing your home office to india for cheaper labor while having record profits might be the "wall street way" but it isnt how the company got where it is after 100yrs. The company does not need to gut its home office and outsource everyone. It needs to upgrade the tech, and figure out a way to get FAs away from door knocking. Tweak the business model, not drop a bo-b on it and destroy it so we can look like a cheap knock off of jp morgan. I've already had to train my indian replacement once before at EDJ last year. It was an utter disaster. So until these pukes at the top making the decisions actually have to train 5 dudes on a zoom call who dont speak english or know what the F we do here, I dont want to hear the BS talking points.
A message OP described was distributed to select associates/leaders, primarily those in more senior compensation grades, possibly as part of broader efforts around talent optimization. It remains uncertain whether similar communications will be extended to other levels within the organization at a later date.
That would all make a lot of sense if it weren’t for the VSP. Offering buyout to a large number of associates based on some criteria unrelated to role or performance does not leave a streamlined organization of essential associates. It leaves mass destruction and unnecessary rebuilding in its aftermath.
In response to post @d3+1jv3rp2xz. Solid and factual note. You should write Penny's next message. One reason this is so painful for people is that she keeps spouting lines like "You Matter" as if she actually believes it. Also what makes it painful was that the firm continued to have people work in broken leadership structures and with broken systems, didn't allow them to grow and flourish, and are now throwing them out while telling them that they're no longer valuable. So, you enjoy your job in Corporate Development and watch Rome burn. Leave the boards to the real people.
For the poster who said "yes we are laying off thousands". When exactly does the firm plan on mentioning that fact? They seem scared to even say a number and have been dodging the question.
Yes, we’re letting go of thousands of people. That’s not a failure. That’s not a crisis. That’s leadership. It’s what high-performing firms do when they’re at the top of their game — they cut what isn’t essential. If that includes your job, then, well… maybe it wasn’t essential.
I know some of you are getting emotional. And bless your hearts, you feel things deeply. But this isn’t about feelings. It’s about the future of Edward Jones. We can’t afford to carry excess — not in this economy, not with the speed of digital transformation, and certainly not with some departments still running like it's 1998. Enterprise Re-imagined is about delivering unmatched client experiences, not coddling people who confuse tenure with value.
If your role is being sunsetted, you’ll be notified. Please don’t clog inboxes or try to schedule meetings “for clarification.” It’s not personal — it’s progress. And if you’re still here after this, congratulations: you’re part of the high-efficiency, low-maintenance version of Edward Jones we’ve been aiming for.
I did not get an email. Any insight on who got one?
To the OP I am wondering what sets you apart from those who didn’t receive it… out of curiosity what is your grade level and area you work if your good with telling that is.
What happens if no one completes it?
The email says this is being sent to a small subset of non-gp leaders and associates.
What is the criteria for who gets this?
Use the correct words that AI is looking for: “Optimized”, “Reduced”, “Streamlined”, “Reduced Idle Time”, “Generated”, “Retained”, “High Impact”, “Thought Leader”, “Change Agent”, etc. You can beat Boston Consulting Group’s algorithm - just takes a little research 😉
