They started to hold and store customers packages until there is enough of a load instead of delivering it when they receive it. Calling it "Rural Deferred Program" it started Fall of 2023. Are they a storage company or a delivery company? Charging the same high price is not right. Customers will just move on and lay offs should be no surprise.

@wpe Exactly. If you're in the business of delivering packages then that's what you should do. Nothing less and no playing around. UPS is cancelling themselves. I sincerely hope UPS goes broke by Christmas this year 2025. I'll buy them a jar of vas---ne for a gift.
@gdp Yep. That's fraud. UPS is engaged in deceptive business practices it's spelled out in my state laws. UPS really needs a good kick in the rear with a huge class action lawsuit!
@1osy at my local hub Harrison Arkansas none of them care about customer service. They are hateful over the phone and the delivery drivers are actually part of the problem with deferred. Some of them are just keying in that the customer refused shipment and they're sending back to the shipper.

Right! If they're "holding" your items that's the same as stealing. Basically they are tampering with packages and withholding them. It's still deceptive business practices because they sold the shipper a label with no intention of delivering on time.

what good is AI, Robotic Automation and speed if box ends up laying around undelivered at its end destination center for days? pity for the poor customer who pays money for this as it should be free. drivers at the local hub are mad and embarrassed customers goods are laying all over the floor in way of car wash, truck bays and create a tripping problem.

Anyone up to date with what Teamsters are doing about it? Know they had some grievances etc. over it but not sure how it went. Rural deferral is not good for business growth.
Sellers of shipped products pay good faith money to ship boxes to customer as fast as possible not for the box to be put in storage.
Management birthed a bad idea now most of those being axed are salaried management. Company is paid in advance so who cares if package gets delivered or stored ?
