RTO to get covid. Thanks MRO!

Let’s all go back to office when new strains are popping everywhere. Yippee. Negligence at it’s finest! Lee and the board take a 25% pay cut and now everyone is being punished!

A vaccine is right around the corner. I wonder how many people will be exposed because MRO couldn’t want a measly few more months.

the new building is all about costs. They squeeze as many of us in there as possible so it is the cheapest $/sqft/employee costs.

Now we will all be packed in and all get sick more often. i agree with the other poster saying we are going to an outdated model versus the new remote model that has clearly worked!

I can attest to the irresponsibility on Marathons part. My circle is having to find out who has covid through word of mouth that’s been in the office and tell each other because we’ve come in to contact with these people and are not notified. The safety protocols are a sham and CYA for Marathon. I have kids at home. I don’t want to bring this home to them.

If you think you won’t be meeting in conference rooms you are in for a surprise. For the past year, managers have been holding meetings with several people and they don’t wear masks inside the room. Some managers are careful but others are reckless and poor safety leadership examples. There are no notifications if someone on your floor gets covid either although other companies are sending out notifications.

Why on earth are we still going forward with the new building? Shared, in-person collaboration spaces are now an outdated concept. It's all about virtual capabilities and not having to physically be in person to work together. Once again Marathon is racing into the future by implementing an idea from last decade.

The unfortunate truth is this has nothing to do with health, safety, efficiency, or collaboration. Rather it is just a blatant display of management's vain insecurities and distrust for all of us. Trust me, those few who aren't doing their jobs remotely were already proficient at not doing their jobs from the office

The 'collaboration' agenda is one of the main drivers of this return to the office. They have sunk so much unnecessary expenditure into this new ridiculous building that management must have people return to the office to justify their plans and goals. Nobody is going to collaborate in person in this environment, we will all be remote at our desks. You won't find me in any conference room that is for certain. The virus is actively mutating and nobody can say what that means.

How many more people need to die to justify this misguided construction project and the goals behind it?

I think it's okay to return. I think it might be mentally beneficial. I'm thankful to be employed and looking forward to speaking to someone other than these four walls.
I feel they should be transparent if a case arises within the building and I statute immediate quarantine.
I feel they should stagger days to limit exposure potential.
When it was rolled out that everyone must be in office on Mondays and Thursdays, I did think who thought that was a sound safe plan forward in a pandemic.

Let’s face it. We’re not waiting for a vaccine because several already exist. We’re resistant because we’ve grown accustomed to a lot more flexibility. Sure I’d rather stay WFH but frankly no matter when MRO announces that we need to go back to the office someone will be crying that it’s too soon and too unsafe. Let’s be real about our motives

It’s fascinating to me to see the bifurcation of employees that work in oil companies, or any operationally dependent industry for that matter. On one hand, you’ve got the crews in the field who have never stopped traveling or working while being asked to continue driving forward with operations to support the business model. On the other hand, you have office support staff who takes offense to being asked to return to a physical work location.

By no means am I advocating for anyone to be put in harms way, but consider the prospective of those who have never been afforded the luxury of WFH for the past 10 months - they’re the ones actively generating revenue for the company.

I suspect the RTO is to carry out layoffs in person. Q4 reporting that week, so they can announce further cost savings measures.
