Ford laying off small numbers a little at a time.

The goal is to make you think you’re the only one. But the pattern we’ve mapped over years proves you’re not. Hundreds of people go through the same rotation sabotage, credit theft, HR gaslight, but each is made to feel alone.
"Anglo-American" mix — read they want fewer hetero white men and fewer hetero white women.
“Seniority mix” — read they want fewer 40+ year old people
@j4 What do you mean by "Anglo-American" mix? If anything, Ford has always had push for better diversity metrics coming from HR.
I can't tell you how many times I saw women or minorities get fast-tracked to direct hire YEARS before the majority demographic.
It's only more recently with political anti-DEI sentiment that Ford has outwardly said decisions are going to be based on performance, but even then I still imagine hesitation to target any besides the lowest performing people who are in any minority category.
@fk+1k4nh0kc0 They factored in the litigation costs prior to the big layoffs. The litigation costs were less than projected and several “leaders” including HR received bonuses and promotions for exceeding expectations. Cough Kiersten cough. Ford leaders can’t get to the desired seniority mix and desired Anglo-American mix in their desired timeframe with a large layoff every few years. The continual cuts is more economical and yields faster results for a variety of reasons.
I know this all seems counter-intuitive to worker bees but they really have modeled the numbers and have a plan. They are being much more careful about documentation leaks and meeting leaks than in the past.
It's because they got their ba--s sued off with all the big rounds of layoffs that made the headlines over the years. Now they fire a few here and there. No groups to team up for class action lawsuit. No headlines. Just a bunch of single people getting fired due to subject "inconsistent" behaviors ($). It took them way too long and way too much money to figure this out. The badge swipes is just the icing on the cake. Farley thinks he's big daddy Trump. Self deportation out of fear. Pathetic. .....Oh BTW my check engine light is on after janky gear shifting. I got a letter in the mail the next day for my sync issues. My lease is 3 mths old. Terrible products. Inhumane leadership. I'm ashamed to be associated
@cw if you ever feel bad about yourself, think about the idea that they need to be taught this
It’s
- taught in the Ivys,
- reinforced by the big consulting companies who hire the Ivys (Bain, BGC, etc),
- foisted onto unwitting companies who use the consulting companies
- and then hire the consultants as leaders,
- who then continue to recommend and purchase the consulting services
Once the hooks are in its a downward spiral of “How much can we take from the employees before they not only quit, but will never work for the company again and will no longer purchase our products.”
Look at any company that has gotten into bed with the Ivys and you will see the exact same playbook. Ford is presently in the continual small USA cuts until 90% of white collar workers are in LowCostCountries phase. In this phase, the company will continue to hire new college grads, however, they do not want them to outstay their welcome of 5-10 years. Watch how the cuts evolve and watch how the company devalues engineers.
Keeping it below the Warn threshold likely
No $hit. Probably a result of all the dead weight.
