I’ve never heard of a company helping employees write external facing interviews before. So messed up!

Worship paying my expenses? What are you talking about? My point was that people are scared and angry and that’s okay. That’s it. Everyone has personal situations that have their own challenges. May be you’re financially independent which is great for you. If my kids say they had a bad day, I don’t tell them they should be grateful because there are kids starving in the world. WTF.

And as for a higher power, I believe in God and that God provides my sustenance and not Chevron. If you hadn’t noticed, the economy isn’t that great right now and the American job market su-ks. I have friends that have been looking for over 6 months and took major pay cuts just to make ends meet. Don’t make the assumption someone making a 6 figure salary is living a lavash lifestyle. Next you’re going to say live below your means. I thank God everyday for the life I have.

Once upon a time, there was a lonely little processing facility. It did not have any of the bosses living next to it, so its Mommy planned a community close by in the forest. But she told Daddy about it before they bought the land. Daddy’s buddies went and told all the animals in the forest they could not live there anymore, because they had sold their land to them for a handful of beans. Then Mommy paid Daddy a really, high price for the land and Daddy and his friends made a lot of money without breaking any rules. And everybody was happy – except the poor animals who did not have farms and fishing anymore. They had to live with uncertainty.

The dude is trying to be a modern day Genghis Khan. Yet, he's bitter with Chevron for a bit of anxiety during his effort to populate the globe. Wow.

@ct welcome to life! There are people that don’t have the privilege or access to six figure income. American affords you the opportunity to get another job where other people in the world don’t have that access.

Chevron or any company at that, owes you nothing. Maybe, you should believe in a higher power other than money. It sounds like you worship paying your expenses.

@ct. Absolutely!! One of the wisest summaries I have seen on this forum. I was a single wage earner who at one time had 5 kids under the age of 18 and I knew the dread of possibly losing my job,

"Chevron's vision was to be the global energy company most admired for its people, partnership and performance. Unfortunately, they don't really care about the people part anymore. That's the reality and it's real people that will be impacted. It's NOT okay to live life day to day not knowing if you will have a job. "

Gosh. Talk about the perfect example of just how insular Chevron has become as a company.

Any person who views themselves as a professional should have a somewhat recently updated resume and a moderately warm external network. This is professionalism 101. You should always be looking to expand skills, grow opportunity, and generally understand what is happening on the other side of the fence.

It's okay to be scared and angry! Chevron's vision was to be the global energy company most admired for its people, partnership and performance. Unfortunently, they don't really care about the people part anymore. That's the reality and it's real people that will be impacted. It's NOT okay to live life day to day not knowing if you will have a job. In the US, the employee has very little protection especailly as it relates to health care. If I lose my job, I have to make a decision to pay $1400/month for health care or pay for other expenses. I'm the sole provider and have kids in collage and one with a disability.

Yes - people are scared and angy. Its not whining.

OP, I think you're spot on in that we can't get consumed by our fears and anxieties. We need to be thoughtful, proactive and act versus being acted upon. We all know our obligations, goals and aspirations and need to figure best how to meet them. It's time to stay positive, focused and do whatever is best for us.
