What a horrible and company and even more diabolical people behind the face of GM. i hope nothing but true true evil brought upon management. they have absolutely no remorse for you or your family. they are the epitome of evil, and i hope they get the chance to watch their children and hopefully their loved ones go through a experience like this… the worst person to have on you’re bad side is the universe, and rest assure they all have horrible things coming their way, and i can’t wait to watch from the other side.. everyone hang in there… you are so much better than this sh-t of a company. Hey they are clearly sinking anyway. look at this as a new opportunity… as hard as it might be, this is a blessing in disguise. You deserve to work for a company that values you and doesn’t blind side you. praying for everyone tonight affected, expect this sh-t a-s company

Average workers have been getting a percent or two a year.

But they'll blame us for their costs anyway, even though we didn't benefit.

ve stated before to my buddy, who is still hanging on, VSP is a thing of the past. The last VSP was the best offer in over 35 years and was designed to do nothing more than to get the last of the legacy (people with 30-45 years pension) to leave. My buddy kept holding out for another VSP, and I told him, "They are done with offers, this is what your new five box is for, along with your manager not being allowed to say his or her entire team are superstars. Now someone HAS to be in the 1 or 2 box. That now gives them a paper trail to justify the tap on the shoulder. VSPs are gone.

We need to reduce headcount as labor expenses are increasing at a rate outpacing inflation and we've nearly exhausted the means to generate voluntary attrition by simply making the work environment less pleasant.

If people are going to refuse to leave regardless of conditions, and everyone is postponing retirement then it has to be involuntary.

which mostly benefits people that don't know how to make a car
(or work for that matter).

No I made that post and work in engineering.

The fact is all of us will be faced with challenges or hard times but what separates people is how they decide to view and respond to those situations. You can say poor me or you can network, bust your a-s and get a job that is better than the one you had before. Even in slow times there are still opportunities to be found.

Take it you were a 5%’er? Su-ks but take the weekend to clear your mind (or however long you need). Take it as a blessing to have got out of a place it sounds like you didn’t like and to pave the way to new opportunities.
