How long after the tariffs go in place will the white collar staff in the US continue to be employed? One month? 6? How long until all the corporate jobs are farmed out to LLCs?

What's an LLC?
If JF can build a transporter room, the assembly plants in Canada and Mexico can be transported stateside to avoid the tariffs.
@gp+1jnf879j6 You got that right. Anyone who observed the building of the data-center of the future in Dearborn knows what a CF it really was. GM was able to build three geographically dispersed data centers that could all backup and failover to each other. While Ford convinced themselves they could have “two data centers” in one building that would magically be protected from all natural and manmade disasters. Oh that maintenance worker that accidentally flipped the breaker switch, oopsie that didn’t happen. Oh that minor fire that didn’t happen. All good look elsewhere, it was just a drill.
Newsflash, it's not yhe 1940's anymore; everything is more complicated, including building a plant.
If the idi0ts on this board are any cross section of Ford's workforce, it's no wonder they're circling the drain
All I have to say to the geniuses in the front office - try it. If your plan is to recoup costs by reducing yet more NA jobs, just know that it will be messy.

"In our industry, you can’t just flip production to a plant in weeks, it takes years of planning."
Tell that to Ford, GM, Chrysler, and other manufacturing companies in the 1940s.
Some of these auto companies have to merger or die… no more bs….take the gloves off….China don’t need you….buy the weak and wind them down…
Solution is to build a "trade-regulating" wall on the USA/Canada border, based on a diode. Trade only flows from the USA to Canada and any trade coming from Canada is blocked.
Diodes allow electric current to flow in one direction, from the anode to the cathode. This is known as the forward direction. In the opposite direction, called the reverse direction, the diode blocks current flow.
Look at what happened last time Trump added tariffs on steel. Imported steel cost more, and the US steel manufactures raised prices to match. And we, the consumer paid more for all of out steel products. This isn't rocket science, folks.
With respect to cars, have you looked at the quality difference between Fords US and Mexico plants? Our US plants su-k AND they cost more.
da+1jnf879j6 i guess it is alright to ship jobs outside NA if it benefits the oval. Well I do not agree nor do I feel sorry if the oval goes chapter 11. I sat in meetings for years listening to commodities being sourced overseas to save a buck. I heard people speak up about sourcing things to china. that fell on deaf ears. Again I do not feel sorry.
It takes years/months to build plants and add farming capacity, etc. Do we even if the workers who want these potential future jobs? This is not about jobs, its about leverage and concessions. We are not liked my most of the world (mostly hated) so don't look for other countries to beg us for a deal. Recession on the way, maybe depression. Stay diversified.
The reason for the import in the first place is because a cheaper alternative is not available domestically. Goods are priced based on market forces.
@d4+1, that would work if the cost to manufacture was close, but it is so much cheaper to produce and ship from other countries, these tariffs are just increasing the cost to us. Sure, there will be a few exceptions where manufacturing may be repatriated, but overall, these goods are made elsewhere because the US can’t make them economically. In our industry, you can’t just flip production to a plant in weeks, it takes years of planning.

Yes, the importer will pay the tariff, but that, in turn, will force the importer to optimize and find the same goods locally.
Dude, I'm not whinning or crying, and I'm not Union and don't complain about my salary. I'm just a realist who understands the global economy.
If Trump is such a big believer in tariffs, he should at least admit to his followers that we are the ones paying for them, not foreign countries.
Canada has announced counter tariffs. The war is on. It will be painful.
@cs+1jnf879j6 - Seriously? People like you whine and cry because you aren't paid enough, so you go on strike demanding $90k/year to build cars, or you vote for politicians who will mandate $12/hr minimum wage to make fries. Then you complain because you have pay too much to support an American worker, just like yourself, for the product he or she made here in America. And if that wasn't enough, then you whine and cry because you lost your job to a low cost country. You're a real POS.
You do realize that "America First" just means paying more for everything, right? It always sounds good to buy American, but most of us realize that low cost unskilled labor from other countries allows us to spend less for what we need. Walmart wouldn't be the biggest retailer if cost wasn't king.
Tariffs are going bring auto jobs back. Simple strategy to build American and no tariffs!
Ford needs to align to the America First strategy to be successful. Let’s hope Ford management has common sense and aligns Ford business with America First tenets. As America does better so will Ford.
Just save your money and hang on If you can deal with the stress. If you don't get cut, you'll be overwhelmed by taking on your former coworker's duties. Then you'll be singled out for performance so you really can't win this game. It's an overall plan to cut who they can unapologetically then make the rest leave on thier own.
Time for change and common sense.
This is insane. Everyone better buckle down.
Time to government forced ev mandates with no infrastructure. We are not needful of this technology for 2 decades or more
Never fear, JF is here. He will smoothly employ the same business-savvy strategy employed in 2021 to circumvent the chip shortage. Non-tariff impacted suppliers are on standby, waiting just to say hi. JF will simply throw the switch to allow the tariff-immune suppliers to supply the needed parts to ensure great success.
