One of the most thoughtful, well regarded, strategic, and earnest VPs was abruptly terminated this week. No clear explanation. This does so much to damage morale and trust in leadership.

@vr its not the revenue they bring in now its the long term revenue and strategic growth they build into the company. The lack of understanding of how we need to expand and grow is ki-ling this company. Tammer is a huge loss and his leaders action and this whole saga group executive leadership should be held accountable for the path they are taking to destroy illumina. So short sighted and just plain d-mb.
@vq how much revenue are they bringing in? I mean TF’s team. If they aren’t adding value, it’s an expensive cost center.

If you aren’t willing to be a mindless yes man, you’re out. The secret to being a VP at illumina these days is to blame individual contributors for lack of exec-level strategy, hire a few consultants to justify your pay and your inevitable decision to hemorrhage talent, and repeat the phrase “growth mindset” until your face goes numb. If that sounds like you, then you may be an illumina VP. The VP who was let go is a good human, exceptional leader, critical thinker, and full-blown collaborator with all levels of the org. Certainly not the half-panicked discount VP we keep in the leadership class these days
