Thread regarding Fannie Mae layoffs

I’m just going to put this out there

I have to say for a company that I truly loved at one time is so disappointing.. I am going to put this out there. Managers are a disappointment! Not one is truly a people manager only a process manager. Tenure means nothing you have directors stating in front of employees that aged employees need to have nudge to retire! You have directors have no clue what employees do! Then you come to today with all of these lay offs and it depends on if you are a favorite and make the cut it isn’t dependent on if you do your job and do a good job. It is dependent on if you’re liked which is ridiculous!!!! Fannie Mae has some of the best employees be smart and choose the ones that actually work and do a good job!!!!

@gb : the nepotism and fraud by the Indian (specifically telugu) workforce in this company is unprecedented! There needs to be a full and resolute audit.

@cp : absolute clown show at Fannie is being exposed. Most of these managers have non-qualifying degrees. As long as you can lick boots and brown nose, you’ll be promoted.

Number 1 mistake: loving a company. How many times do we need proof that companies do not give the slightest s*** about their employees? Where is all of that one big family bs? We listen, we strengthen bs. Same story here. I apologize for putting it this way. All of this BS cultural stuff didn't happen overnight.

Fannie Mae has always been a big tribe. Tribal knowledge, tribal growth, tribal raises. Zero bones. MFS had us RTO over one weekend.

I believe our most significant responsibility is to spread the word. You will not be taken care of here; you will learn nothing of technical value. Your seniors will withhold information from you to maintain their power, and your managers are unaware of what is going on. Early careers, run away.

@gb It's because to be a manager or a director it's more like being a member in a country club than being a manager in a business. A manager or director is most likely someone's niece or nephew of someone else at Fannie Mae or maybe another bank executive's relative. That is why gutting all the managers and the VPs would be the first place the layoffs should start to make the company more efficient.

@g6 I had the same thoughts for years. The vast majority of the managers have zero social and people skills. That is also true for good portion of directors and VPs. Since forever I was asking myself how TF did these people ever got promoted in a first place.

@OP Thank you for summing this up so well. It's so true, especially the part about the people managers.
