It's Friday and I'm off today. Snow is coming over the weekend but not enough to keep me home on monday. I suppose I'll find out then if my name was drawn yesterday.

@27f - Thursdays, I watched a show where it’s called the “forever layoff” where a few people each week are let go to keep under the radar and out of the mainline news.

Tomorrow is another Thursday. And next week, there will be another. And each Thursday brings angst doesn't it.

@18f
Many of your former colleagues have already left for better jobs. They didn't wait to get laid off. They didn't wait around to see if the company would change into something better. That would have been pretty stuupid. And, they realized that no matter how much you complain to your leadership about what's not working, they don't give a shyt.
So, what are you waiting for? The very best jobs out there have already been taken by your former coworkers while the rest of you have been sitting on your hands waiting for a layoff. Maybe you're just better off staying. You might be too d-mb to be of any value someplace else.
I expect this post to be deleted before too many people see it.

@1y9 there’s a known layoff (WARN) for Van Nuys on that date, but the closure of the facility and transference of work to Clifton was announced a while ago.

I'll be using some of my unlimited sick time monday, Tuesday and maybe Wednesday next week. The road construction on the way into Clifton su-ks anyway. Another good reason to look forward to a layoff. Maybe it will incentivize me to get off my a-s and get a good job.

It would be right up L3H’s demeanor to lay people off on Thanksgiving, but you won’t know about it until you go back to work on Monday and your badge no longer works.

Remember look for the extra police cars in the parking lot (not the ones that are normally there), it’s a giveaway.

At least this coming Thursday is a holiday. They won't lay us off on a holiday would they? Maybe next week.

It's Friday here in Clifton and I'm off today. I didn't get laid off yesterday so it was a good week. We'll see what happens next week.

@cj no notes. There doesn't seem to be any RIF today. I'm honestly just here for the Kube jokes (and more substantial layoff rumors as I have a family to support. Unlike the Kube who's probably got an extra family or two on the side! ba-dum-ksh!)

I get that a lot of people here are stressed and some have been hit hard, but I wanted to share a different angle.

I recently had a short-notice 1:1 with my manager pop up on my calendar and, after reading this board, I was sure it was the layoff talk. I spiraled pretty hard.

It turned out to be nothing like that. It was just a routine change in reporting and the conversation was actually pleasant.

This made me realize how much constant speculation and worst-case-scenario posts can crank up anxiety for people who are already on edge. I’m not saying don’t share info or don’t vent, but maybe we can try to separate facts from rumors a bit more.

If you really know something concrete, please share it. If nobody knows yet, maybe we can admit that instead of filling the gap with doom. Otherwise this place turns into an echo chamber that makes everyone feel worse, even when nothing is actually happening.

Only a fool fights aboard a sinking ship. Don't wait until the long boats are all taken. You've done your duty but the captain has gone mad.
Save yourself.

My goodness…. I don’t miss the feeling I had BEFORE I got laid off. I work for a prime now. They’re just as dirty up in corporate but they take care of me WAY better. I wish you ALL the best and I REALLY do hope you have a great holidays. If you are blessed enough to stay I hope you turn that ship around!
