Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

BTC recruitment process su-ks!

Interviewed for a role in BTC.

Had the first round which was supposed to be a "technical round" and was hardly technical. The next round was even worse where the questions were vague and very generic.

Cleared both the rounds and still there was no conversation about the salary expectations. There outsourced HR dummies told me take the medical tests before the salary discussion saying that both the processes go simultaneously.

A week later during the verbal offer call they offered a ridiculous compensation which is way below than what I was expecting and said that it's a non negotiable offer lol. Not sure how they come up with that number without even asking what my current salary was.

Would not recommend anyone to interview with them

There's not a thing fake about it, the offer is non-negotiable, it is low and they don't even consider your current pay so what they offer can be lower than your current lol. The interview experience was very mid Surely the BTC PR team is working overtime to prove this is a fake. About the other websites to get geniune reviews, there's nothing on Indeed, Glassdoor and Exxon folks currently working won't tell you the truth so LinkedIn is of no use and the ExxonMobil Bangalore fishbowl is dead.

BTC rocks, the vibes are so much better and the crowd younger and energetic than depressing Houston campus. If low pay gets that in India, wonder what a decent pay could do. Surely will turn EM around from Bangalore!

@grcw+1sH4ZM9C Yeah it's fake because apparently Indian Nationals can't post on this website. I did check other resources but you can hardly find anything "REAL"about ExxonMobil in any other platform. Seeing
so many people from India calling a genuine experience fake I'm starting to believe what the Americans are saying about BTC on this forum. Maybe y'all are thick in your head.

This is totally fake. Why would an Indian national be posting on layoff.com to ask for information from an interview and salary. There are probably many local Indian forums where locals are posting offer salaries from various companies.

the surprising part for me is that they are doing medical before a proper offer. how is that possible?

@rik+1sH4ZM9C How are you claiming that no one from India can post on this forum yet you have just posted? Ever heard of the term VPN? Clearly you have never interviewed with BTC. This is exactly what happened with me. Are you from the BTC PR team?

It’s absolutely true that the BTC offers are low and non negotiable, promises of “careers” , international travel and expat roles are viewed as enough to negate the low salary offers.

Enter at your own risk….

Anyone who has been to BTC knows that all the posts and replies related to BTC are not from BTC.
This website is banned in India. Indians post on Outbox
All comments related to BTC are made by Americans and deeply disturbed individuals posing as BTC to stroke the divide.
I know the truth. This is FAKE. Same as every other post related to BTC

Based on AGE? and not on years of experience? That's fu---d up. I don't know what to do I'll ask them to consider negotiating else I'll have to decline the offer.

XOM never posts salary in job postings because unlike the entire world where the position and responsibilities determine the salary, in XOMworld, the only thing that matters is your age and the market average (which of course is always at least a year behind).
The top management still believes that no one would turn down a career at XOM because they are living in a bubble where their direct reports lie by omission to prevent communicating any negative information that would prevent them from advancing in their own careers. Sad really.

Their “non-negotiable” number is ONLY based on age, and is benchmarked against backoffice engineering offices. It’s completely inconsistent with their market.

@cij+1sH4ZM9C What I do want to know is from where do they come up with this "non-negotiable" number? Are there any groups or salary levels? Also do they ever negotiate an offer?

@haj+1sH4ZM9C Why do you think it's fake? This is the exactly what happened with me. Maybe you haven't interviewed with them externally.
