@fs, H1B are not exceptional talent, they are exceptional value, $$/unit of work. If they become citizens, they will be entitled to more benefits and erode the value they provide, specifically the numerator portion of the value equation.

I am a Ford employee and applied to a Product Mgr role within the company about year ago. I reached out to the hiring mgr just to introduce myself letting him know about my interest, skills and years of experience. He said an offer had actually been made to someone else, but was waiting on her visa status. This BS has got to stop.

@fq The real issue is that they are vulnerable. Your point is misdirecting the real benefit companies have with H1-B. If they are exceptional talent that cannot be found here, then they should have a faster track towards becoming a citizen so they can contribute to this country. If that happens, they are less vulnerable to abuse. I picture companies that have a weird history of unchecked misconduct as ones who would most likely take advantage of vulnerable groups, like H1-Bs.

I'll say it a million time, H1B are here because US companies can't find workers at the price they want to pay them.

Now, if you really are against H1B, stop patronizing the companies that hire them and prove you can support them.

My 2nd statement demonstrated why you are the actual source of the problem you are complaining about.

@e1, I disagree! When 15 relatives live in 1-bedroom apartment, unfortunately only one brings home a paycheck. The rest try to game the welfare system, get free food, free healthcare, free tuition, etc. Their contribution to our economy is -30%.

@c6 Disagree. They live with 15 other people in a 1 bedroom apt. Then send most of their money back to the homeland. Many I've worked with have told me this. Don't think for a minute they are contributing equally on a per capital basis. My estimate is about 30% compared to us. Wake up.

@ch ask @c9 instead because something I think I said in the past upset them. I'm not OP, but I recall bringing up Munger. I found one of his talks randomly and it was just packed with good info.

I will work extra hard. Sorry for looking on the other side! I will value my Ford job and be grateful. Sorry for having the thoughts! The grass is indeed not greener on the other side! Thank you! I'm sorry for having deviant thoughts. No more

@ah

Its not about skill a$$ hole, if it was we wouldn't be having this conversation and H1-Bs wouldn'tbe an issue... Its about kick backs and getting what seen as "good enough" by people who have little idea what it takes to do the job.

Actually H1B is not the real problem. The H1B person works in the US and spends money here which helps the economy.

The real problem is outsourcing to other countries. For example Amazon has at least 15000 workers in India.

What is the point of being an American citizen if outlanders can take your jobs?

If companies want Indian workers, they can move to India. They’ve been able to don that for decades now.

It said Tata Consultancy, I believe you need to speak fluent English. There’s no money to be made in Indian because they don’t pay over compensated liars (consultants).
