Virtual Live will be the way to go, cut costs while pretending to avoid covid.

I can confirm that the number of Cisco SEs at Live will be way down. You will still have a large number of SE leaders at Live but no one around to answer a question.

Attendance at Cisco live is cut back savagely. Travel budgets are almost non-existent.

Email to Sales to book Impact travel came out this morning, so the above "Sales was told to delay making plans for Impact/Vegas travel" as a pending LR indicator is inaccurate.

Yep payouts early on are generous then the decline as the company slowly dies. Lucent, Nortel, Cisco all follow the same path.

Sales was told to delay making plans for Impact/Vegas travel. Wonder if that means a Q3/Q4 LR announcement and wait for dust to settle.

Why would there be layoffs? Cisco is bleeding talent massively and its cheaper for Cisco for employees to leave by themselves than Cisco chucking them out. The lack of pay hikes and mediocre work combined with uncertainity has already driven out a lot of people for Cisco.

I would not assume any future generous LR payout expectation would be the same as prior LR or ER payout calculations.

I was LR'd in 2017, the payout was very generous; I can't remember the calculation (dang now five years ago), but definitely was more than expected.

Those packages have to be major accounting expenses for the company, especially in mass. They could easily change the expected payout.

I had the LR, which at the time was yes sad, but a nice chunk of money (think it was around a half year pay), plus benefits; plus RMAP. Fortunate.

The crazy part were my Cisco friends who were then offered the ER after that LR cycle, but turned it down. Have a good neighbor who turned his down a few years back. He is a good friend, but now a walking technical zombie. Us LR'd folks here in RTP keep up with each other and out of the five in my "net", we've mostly gone on to bigger and better things.

Getting LR'd was honestly one of the best things that happened in my career three years ago; I work still in IT but have a LLC also.

I highly recommend folks take a chance and get out there. If you know your stuff, have a good work ethic, and simply try to do the right thing (use common sense in work), you will always have a job in tech.

Do not waste away waiting for a payout. I think I did, for the last three years or so there; luckily it paid off. Looking back, I would have not waited, if I had to do it all over again.

We're being told to watch expenses very carefully. Train rides to customers, hotel expenses etc are being closely scrutinised. I think there are going to be big layoffs soon, perhaps after FY end, because Cisco will start to see a cash flow problem due to lead times. This is great for me in my late-fifties and I'll be asking to be LR'd so I can retire early. I think the queue for requests for LR will be huge since there are many my age who want out of all this BS.

I think it's reasonable to be worried, but maybe I'm overreacting.
